Steel Pan Prelude:

We’re Marching Let the Power Fall on Me

Order of Worship

Processional Hymn: ‘Jesus! The Name High Over All’, VIP # 49

Jesus! the name high over all, in hell or earth or sky;

Angels and men before it fall, and devils fear and fly.

And devils fear and fly.

Jesus! the name to sinners dear, the name to sinners given;

It scatters all their guilty fear, it turns their hell to heaven.

It turns their hell to heaven.

Jesus! The prisoner’s fetters breaks, and bruises Satan’s head;

Power into strengthless souls it speaks, and life into the dead.

And life into the dead

O that the world might taste and see the riches of his grace!

The arms of love that compass me would all mankind embrace.

Would all mankind embrace.

His only righteousness I show, his saving truth proclaim;

'Tis all my business here below to cry, "Behold the Lamb!"

To cry, "Behold the Lamb!"

Happy, if with my latest breath I might but gasp his name,

Preach him to al,l and cry in death: “Behold, behold the Lamb!”

"Behold, behold the Lamb!"

Introit: Psalm 150 The Majesty Singers, Georgetown Circuit

Prayer of Invocation

O Triune God, God of power and might, God of truth and holiness, as we gather here we pray for the manifestation of your Spirit’s power. Let us hear the sound coming from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind. Let your Spirit fill this house. Send tongues of fire on each of us, and as we sing your praises and listen to your word may our hearts be warmed by the your purifying fire and your love. And, Lord, grant that all we do will be done the glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen

Call to Worship:

Minister: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love.

All: Send forth your Spirit, and renew us, O Lord

Minister: God’s promise to pour out His Spirit on all flesh stands firm

All: Lord, let our sons and our daughters prophesy, and our young men and young women see visions, and our old men and women dream dreams

Minister: Receive his power as the Holy Spirit comes upon you. Be his witnesses everywhere.

All: We accept your power Lord, to be your witness here in this place, in Georgetown and in all the regions of this land, in the Caribbean and the Americas, and wherever we go.

Hymn, “See How Great A Flame Aspires” VIP # 141

See how great a flame aspires, Kindled by a spark of grace!
Jesus’ love the nations fires, Sets the kingdoms on a blaze:
To bring fire on earth He came; Kindled in some hearts it is:
O that all might catch the flame, All partake the glorious bliss!

When He first the work begun, Small and feeble was His day:
Now the word doth swiftly run; Now it wins its widening way:
More and more it spread and grows, Ever mighty to prevail;
Sin’s strongholds it now o’erthrows,

Shakes the trembling gates of hell.

Sons of God, your Savior praise! He the door hath opened wide!
He hath given the word of grace, Jesus’ word is glorified;
Jesus, mighty to redeem, He alone the work hath wrought;
Worthy is the work of Him, Him Who spake a world from naught.

Saw ye not the cloud arise, Little as a human hand?
Now it spreads along the skies, Hangs o’er all the thirsty land:
Lo! the promise of a shower Drops already from above;
But the Lord will shortly pour All the spirit of His love.

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

2 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6 And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7 Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” 12 All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.”

“O, Let the Power fall on Me”

O let the power fall on me, my Lord, let the power fall on me;

O let the power from heaven fall on me, Let the power fall on me.

For we want power to live as one, yes, Lord,

We want power to live as one;

So as we pray and intercede for some, May the spirit make us one.

Send us the promised Comforter, O Christ,

Send us the promised Comforter;

And let our hearts be filled with love O Christ,

When the Spirit come like dove.

Give us the power here and now, O Christ,

Please for the power, here and now;

Send us the power of grace and peace and love,

Send us the power of peace and love.

Song: “Jesus Wants Me for A Sunbeam”, VIP # 480a

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,

To shine for Him each day;
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam, I’ll be a sunbeam for Him.

Jesus wants me to be loving,

And kind to all I see;
Showing how pleasant and happy

His little one can be.

I will ask Jesus to help me
To keep my heart from sin,
Ever reflecting His goodness,
And always shine for Him.

I’ll be a sunbeam for Jesus;
I can if I but try;
Serving Him moment by moment,
Then live with Him on high.

Sermon Rev’d Glenna Spencer, District President

Hymn, O Thou Who Camest From Above, VIP # 232

O Thou who camest from above, the pure celestial fire to impart

Kindle a flame of sacred love upon the mean altar of my heart.

There let it for thy glory burn with inextinguishable blaze,

And trembling to its source return,

In humble prayer and fervent praise.

Jesus, confirm my heart's desire to work and speak and think for thee;

Still let me guard the holy fire, and still stir up thy gift in me.

Ready for all thy perfect will, my acts of faith and love repeat,

Till death thy endless mercies seal, and make my sacrifice complete.

Litany: Sis Geraldine Maison-Hall & Sis Ann Amsterdam

O God, you sent your Spirit at Creation

Your Spirit moved upon the face of the waters and from chaos the heaven and earth were created

You gave your Spirit to the rulers and kings of Israel, and they danced in the power of the Spirit

And in your name they prophesied with the prophets.

You poured out your Spirit upon Elijah and the prophets

So that by the power of the Spirit the prophets prophesied.

And the Virgin Mary conceived through the power of the same Spirit

The Messiah, the Christ took human form and came into our world

In the form of a dove the Spirit descended on Jesus at his baptism

And the same Spirit drove him into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan

In the power of the Spirit he overcame Satan and angels ministered to him.

Then he returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom.

And after his death his death, resurrection, and ascension, God poured out His Spirit on his people

Sons and daughters prophesied, old men dreamed dreams, and young men saw visions

So the Church came into being through the power of the Holy Spirit

We are your Church, and we are here because of the power of the Holy Spirit

O Holy Spirit send us out to witness in your power

That all the world may see you, tell of your wondrous love and goodness, and call you Lord,

O Holy Spirit send us out to witness in your power

That we may express your gift of love and joy, patience, peace and kindness, gentleness, generosity, self-control and faithfulness

O Holy Spirit send us out to witness in your power

That we may seek out your lost bruised and broken children with your message of salvation

O Holy Spirit send us out

Move us forward empowered by your Holy Spirit

The Peace

The Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you

And also with you

Lift up your hearts

We lift them up to the Lord

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise

It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You delivered us from captivity, made covenant to be our sovereign God, and spoke to us through the prophets.

And so with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn

Le lo le lo lai lo. Le lo le lo lai lo.

Le lo le lo lai lo lo le lo le lo lai

Holy, holy, holy God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest,

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.

Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor,

To proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and to announce that the time had come when you would save your people.

By the baptism of his suffering, death and resurrection you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.

When the Lord Jesus ascended, He promised to be with us always, in the power of your Word and Holy Spirit.

On the night in which he gave himself up for us,

He took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
