Shropshire Boccia 2017
I hope you are well. The time has come to prepare for the fifth Shropshire Boccia Tournament! I am delighted that the Colleges are eager for their students to help us again and the dates are as follows:
Tuesday, 26th September - Oswestry Heat, starting at 09.30 am
Tuesday, 3rd October – Bridgnorth Heat, starting at 10.00 am
Friday, 6th October – Shrewsbury Sixth Form College at 10.00 am
Thursday, 13th October – Shrewsbury Heat, (London Rd) starting at 09.30 am
Tuesday, 10th October – Ludlow Heat, starting at 10.00 am
Thursday, 20th October – County Final, (London Rd, Shrewsbury) starting at 10.00 am
The competitions will run in the morning, with a short break for “Elevenses”. Teams comprise three players and each club may enter up to three teams. Entry costs £6.00 (incl VAT) per team. The competition will be played according to the rules used in previous Shropshire Boccia Tournaments – see attached summary.
There will be medals for the winning teams of each heat as well as for the County Final. The winners of the County Final will receive medals and will hold the Cup for one year. The “Whitefriars Fillies”, Ludlow, won the Cup in 2016 with the “Daffodils” from North Shrewsbury Friendly Neighbours and the “Fabulous Musketeers” (Shrewsbury) taking the Silver and Bronze medals. This was the third year out of four that the County Cup has been held by Whitefriars. It was also the third year that the Fabulous Musketeers have won a medal in the Final. Who will be the 2017 Champions?!
There is no minimum standard to enter the tournament – everyone is welcome! The aim is to have fun and make new friends. If your Boccia club has not been active recently, maybe this could be an incentive to get it going again? Please complete the attached booking form and return it as soon as possible.
