During this orientation we will take some time to discuss the general class agenda, training methods, and answer questions. We will also discuss training equipment. Chain leashes, retractable leashes, back-clip harnesses or head halters are not appropriate training equipment. We will have examples of what we recommend available for purchase from us or a pet store. Family members are encouraged to participate, although we recommend that one person at a time handle the dog during class and that an adult handle the dog at least for the first few classes. The rest of the family is invited to watch and ask questions. Because of the nature of the first class (orientation), we ask that you do not bring small children, unless they can sit quietly for an hour and a half.

All handlers must be a minimum 16 years of age or have prior Instructor approval.

Also a “Caution Leash” or appropriate “Leash Wrap” is requiredif your dog is shy, timid, overly exuberant or reactive. We will show the leashes and wraps and have them available for sale ($20) at class. IMPORTANT:Please let us know if your dog is shy, timid, overly exuberant or reactive.
