On Saturday July 30, 2016, the Notre Dame Club of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts will host its annual UND Celebration/ Student Sendoff. This year the celebration will be at the picturesque, and Mount Hope Bay waterfront,Seaconnet Sportsman’s Clublocated at 145 Sakonnet Drive, Portsmouth RI 02871 from 12 to 3 pm.
The SeaconnetSportman’s Club has a beautiful outdoor facility overlooking the water with a protected roof. This event gives our incoming freshmen and their families the opportunities to meet each other and become part of the greater Notre Dame family. We will be serving an excellent Italian buffet catered by B. Pinelli’s Restaurant. For those who attended last year’s event, Pinelli’swas the caterer at the RI Yacht Club.
This year’s guest speaker from the University will be Sharif Najim. Sharif is an IT Architect at the University of Notre Dame. His main areas of focus include cloud computing, DevOps, enterprise architecture, APIs, and creating positive disruption. Sharif served as the lead architect for Notre Dame and on the initial higher education advisory board for Box as part of its coming to be as an Internet2 Net+ service. Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2007, Sharif was the Director of Quality Assurance and Special Projects for TravelCLICK. He also co-founded and served on the board of a customer data integration company, serving the airline industry. Prior to that, he spent over a decade building enterprise-class transactional, decision support, and customer data integration systems for clients including Federal Express, SBC/Ameritech, and United Airlines. In his free time, Sharif enjoys creating memories with his family, motorcycling, and unplugging.
