Once Upon a Mattress - Contract
*Contract due at time of audition (No contract = no audition)*
Thank you for your interest in being part of this year’s John Winthrop musical, Once Upon a Mattress. There are many responsibilities in being a member of the cast:
1. I will attend all required rehearsals. We will allow you to miss five rehearsals (at
most) providing a valid excuse. Because of the need to keep moving forward, an unexcused absence will likely result in your removal from the number we worked on in that rehearsal.
2. It is your responsibility to get a schedule and know when you have rehearsal.
3. I will be respectful/courteous to the production team, cast & crew, & school staff.
There will be a “three strike rule” regarding disrespectful behavior.
4. I will clean up after myself. Reminder: no food or drink in the auditorium.
5. NO cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc. AT ALL. These are a huge distraction and it is against school policy to use them in school.
6. All school rules apply.
7. I will be prepared for rehearsal with my script, music, a pencil, and appropriate footwear (no open-toed shoes).
8. One of the responsibilities of a cast member’s parent/guardian is to help provide costuming for the show. We will send a list home with students.
9. I understand the sports conflicts (see reverse).
***We need your help!! A musical is an enormous undertaking and we need any help you can offer! Please know you would be part of a team and not solely responsible for doing everything. There are many volunteer opportunities available if any parents/guardians are interested. Please see below.
Again, thank you for your interest in the musical. We know it’s going to be great!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Megan Sirimongkhoune, Mrs. Laura Traver

Sports Conflicts
The musical season overlaps both basketball and baseball/softball seasons. To be fair to all activities, students are not allowed to participate in the musical and either sports team.
However, if basketball and musical tryouts are the same week, students will be allowed to try out for both. If a student is selected for both the musical and the basketball team, he/she must decide which activity to join.
Students will be unable to play baseball/softball because the musical season will run through try-outs and into the start of their sports season.
