Dear AANP Member:
April 8, 2009 marks the initial airing of the 1st of seven shows for PBS station, KOCE, in Orange County, California. The second of the series will air on April 22, 2009.
The AANP is creating a three-tiered marketing program to utilize the series to include:

  • a national campaign;
  • best practices for local/individual physician marketing; and
  • a strategy for legislative and regulatory efforts across the country.

On the national level, the AANP is working with a PR firm with expertise in "packaging" PBS fund-raisers. We intend to start with five media markets. This PR effort will also include earned media which will include interviews on the local morning shows or local evening news to promote the series. Likewise, we would look for print coverage in that market.
This work is quite expensive, roughly $10K per market.It is important to note that the AANP will not have the ability to market the series until it has been shown in its entirety.
In the meantime, AANP is developing a plan for use by individual physicians to promote your practices and to raise awareness in your market. The AANP will develop a series of podcasts (approximately 2-3 minutes) derived from the series. (You may have seen the clip from the series on our website featuring are very own Dr. Carl Hangee-Bauer.) These podcasts are part of our "Practice Development" tools for members, and can be loaded to your sites to drive traffic to your site and to increase your patient load. The podcasts and the series will be great assets to your efforts at health fairs, public speaking engagements, discussion groups, etc.
On the legislative level, the AANP is developing a strategy for the series and the podcasts assist in efforts to expand scope of practice and to pass licensing. The goal will be to use the podcasts in combination with our CAPWIZ capabilities.
The total cost for this three-tiered approach will require an additional $100,000. To date, we have raised all the money for production and associated expenses (such as travel) associated with the series.To donate, click here. For donations of $250 and above, you will receive a complimentary copy of the 7th "best of" segment of the series.
We offer a big thank you to the individuals who have already contributed to this effort. They are:
