Rabbit Fryer Check In Change
The market fryer rabbit check in has been moved to Monday, June 12, 6-8:00 p.m. at the Rabbit Barn on the Fairground. This replaces the June 1 check in. If a member can’t be there to check in the rabbit(s) another member, volunteer or family member can bring the project(s) to check in. Each project will be tattooed on June 12 with a county id and number.
Creative Writing
For all 4-H members signed up for creative writing there are two steps to judging. The first step is to submit your writing project to OSUE by June 15. Next members need to be judged on June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the fairground.
County King & Queen Contest
Just a reminder to all royalty contestants that the County King & Queen Contest is June 14 at OSUE. Contestant interviews will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the evening contest will start at 7:00 p.m.
Clinton County Pork Industry Queen & Princess
Applicants must live in Clinton County, have taken swine for two years and are current 4-H or FFA members. Princess applicants must be 12-15 years of age and queen applicants must be 16-18 as of January 1, 2017. The deadline to enter is June 10. Applications are available at the OSU Extension office. 2017 CLINTON COUNTY HOMEMAKERS’ 4-H SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
(For members 14 years of age and older as of the current year) The Clinton County Homemakers is a volunteer organization, whose purpose is strengthening individuals through education, community service and leadership development. We encourage progressive improvement of our home and community life.As a Clinton County organization for Family and Consumer Sciences, through this award, we encourage and promote the development of homemaking skills, education and leadership development.
The organization will award one $200 non-renewable scholarship to a deserving current year 4-H participate in a field related to skills in family and consumer sciences in the home, community service and leadership development. Return application to the OSU Extension Office by June 21, 2017, Attn: Clinton Co. Homemakers. Interviews with applicant by appointment only on June 23 at the Clinton County Extension Office. Award to be presented during Creative Projects Award ceremony at fair.
Cloverbud Camp Forms are out!!!
All county Cloverbud Members should have received their camp registration. The Cloverbud Counselor Team is excited to offer Cloverbuds a 4-H day camp. Camp is June 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 4-H Camp Graham in Clarksville, Ohio.
A beach theme camp will be filled with games, songs, hands-on activities and lots of outdoor camp experiences. Campers will hike, play group games, participate in flag ceremonies, sing camp songs and make crafts. Cloverbud Camp is a great experience for a young 4-H member. Campers will be outdoors, have fun, and meet other Cloverbuds and 4-H teen counselors from Clinton and Clermont Counties.
The 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp fee is $30. It includes: lunch, snacks, t-shirt and craft supplies. Camp is open to 4-H Cloverbud members and non-members age 5 and in Kindergarten until the member reaches age 8 and third grade. Registration is June 13. Camp scholarships are available. Scholarship forms are available at clinton.osu.edu or at the Clinton County Extension Office and are due to OSU Extension by June 12. All camp forms are posted at:
Clinton County Jr. Fair Board 5K Clover Charge (Color Run) is June 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
Start/Finish: Clinton County Fairgrounds, 958 W Main St, Wilmington, OH 45177
Time: On Race Day – Registration begins at 7:45 a.m.
T-shirt Pick-Up from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairground, June 23
5K Walk/Run – $25 Register fee by June 22. After June 22 entry fee is $30 with no shirt.

Skillathon
Members must complete a skillathon for each of the following project areas that they are enrolled in: beef, dairy, dogs, goats, hogs, horses, poultry, rabbitsand sheep at the designated time before the fair to be eligible to show their animals at the fair. A completed official 4-H/FFA project book or insert, which is 10% of the total skillathon score must be turned in at the time the test is taken. Members having valid scheduling conflicts who cannot attend the scheduled dates must notify the OSU Extension office in writing by midnight prior to the last skillathon date. No make-up tests during the fair. Those not taking the skillathon during the county dates are ineligible for any skillathon awards. Members who enter the skillathon test buildings must sign in and take the skillathon that night. Only members taking the Skillathon are permitted in the testing areas. No cell phones may be used in the testing area. The Skillathon dates are June 22 & 26, 6-8:00 p.m. at the fairground. More information can be found on page 10 of the Junior Fair Requirements Book.
Quality Assurance
PQA/QA-Clinton County is offering several PQA/QA sessions: All county PQA/QA events will certify all specie areas including hogs. Members need to attend one PQA/QA session to show and sell a market or lactating livestock project. Below is a listing of the PQA/QA sessions we have already scheduled. Check with you FFA instructor to see if the certification is being provided for members at your school. There is a $5 fee to all out of county participants.
