Physical Education 2016-2017
Ms. Thomas
Grading
Physical Education class is based on 5 points per class period. Points are
earned for the following things:
· Proper dress/clothing
· Participation
· Effort (You don’t have to be THE best, just try YOUR best!)
· Cooperation
· Positive attitude
Absence/Suspension
Absence from class for any reason, (including suspension, early dismissal, attending another class, etc.) will result in achieving zero points for that class. It is up to the student to make up that class.
**School Related Absences – Students participating in school-related activities (field trips, guidance meetings, etc.) will be excused from class.
Medical Excuses
Doctor’s excuse must be submitted to the teacher at the time the student is to be excused. They are not retroactive and parent notes are not accepted. The excuse should specifically list the limitations of the student and the modifications to be made for continued participation. The termination date should be clearly noted. If a student is unable to participate with limitations, one of the following options must be selected.
· OPTION #1: Make-up each of the missed days of activity during the school day. Student should plan the make-ups with their teacher. Study Halls and Activity Periods can be used. Two Activity Period make-ups would equate one missed PE class.
· OPTION #2: Student will complete required SV Cyber curriculum-based content as determined by number of weeks excused.
Parental Excuses
Excuses from home are treated the same as a class absence. No credit is received and the class must be made up.
Make-Ups
It is the student’s responsibility to arrange make-up classes. Students can make up classes during study hall or activity period. 2 Activity Period make-ups = 1 class. There may also be extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
