COMMENTS / not at all / very useful
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Strategic Directions
  • Very useful to learn of strategic situation from VC
  • Very good overview of the future
  • Always important to hear this. It would be good to be able to then see how that impacts or relates to other sessions
  • Good to know where we are going
  • Good update
  • Heard it all before
  • Excellent
  • Implementation of would be a good topic for all staff
  • Useful to see VC thinking
/ 2 / 3 / 8 / 7
Strategic Planning and Quality
  • Important to become aware of new planning process
  • Not helpful to have a new staff member talk about general concepts
  • Far too general, not interactive
  • Good to know about the ‘many’ plans to guide us there
  • Not sure strategies are matching the VC’s comments, ie, growing research capacity
  • Excellent
/ 3 / 5 / 4 / 7
Research Directions
  • Very clear and useful
  • Need to look more closely at how to translate this into practice
  • Again, important to have this update (as per strategic directions)
  • Great session Gail
  • Did not address major issue of staffing & research capacity (competitive environment)
  • Most helpful
/ 2 / 12 / 6
Research (HOSSchool level)
  • Good to have the working group activities
/ 1 / 2 / 12 / 3
Committee Structures in the new structure: making sense of it all
  • Useful to be informed about this
  • This type of reporting although kept to the minimum, time was not used well
  • Helpful
/ 1 / 9 / 5 / 5
Learning and Teaching Plan: Implications for Schools and Faculties (Mandated Training)
  • N/A
  • Most helpful
/ 3 / 5 / 10 / 1
Benchmarking Update
  • Useful to learn of work in other faculties
  • More people’s data would be good
  • Good overview on the process adopted by faculties
  • Good to hear what is happening in other faculties
  • OK, all faculties are struggling with this. Need help from OPSM or similar admin area
  • We need more examples across university
/ 4 / 4 / 11 / 1
Moderation Update
  • Useful to learn of work in other faculties
  • Some useful some not
  • Same as above (good to hear)
  • Yes we are all struggling with this too
/ 2 / 7 / 9 / 1
How to use the CEQ data to improve learning and teaching
  • A well focussed session
  • Could have been better
  • Thanks Theda

Unit Outline changes (including Graduate Attributes)
  • Very important to field questions and work through issues on this
  • This info needs to be given to LIC’s who will be compiling unit outlines
  • Concerned about the focus that this needs to happen when there are concerns about graduate attributes
  • But a nightmare!
  • Quite complicated – would need help to implement this
  • Not really scope for discussion. It appears to have been decided, therefore it was really a case of reporting on a directive
  • Still confused
  • Demonstrate how important it is to have a increase of higher level HEWs (Admin support)
  • Helpful session
  • The complexity of this document is ridiculous
  • Ugly
/ 1 / 3 / 6 / 4 / 3
Graduate Attributes
  • As above Give to LICs.
  • Excellent sessions, showing how the process should be and identifying problems in our process
  • Very good session
  • Too broad and yet specific to certain types of courses – needed the time to consider implications for types of courses (ie those with set units, those with options in units undertaken)
  • Excellent
  • Most helpful
  • Need to use this properly
  • Problem was that there should have been faculty time immediately following while fresh

Directions for ’09: Major Projects
– LTPF funding
–Articulation Pathways and International arrangements
  • Again, an update rather than a workshop on issues
  • Useful
/ 2 / 9 / 7 / 2
Hot Topics
  • Good
  • Canapes & drinks opportunity to talk was excellent
  • Good to ‘buzz’
  • Good food
/ 1 / 7 / 3 / 3
Marketing and compliance imperatives for International students in a global economic crises
  • A great overview of situation
  • A little ‘them & us’
  • Need to link this presentation to the role each faculty will have
  • Not useful – not new material. Focussing on the section ‘how we can help’ as workshop would have been good
  • Most informative
  • We have done this before
/ 3 / 6 / 1 / 5 / 2
HR Presentation – Workforce Planning, Managing Change and Restructuring
  • Some more discussions of foundational issues involved in concept of ‘teaching intensive’ needed
  • Would be good to do a session on managing difficult staff at this event rather than at an open venue where all staff are present as HOS/Deans issues are somewhat different. A different venue with more ‘up tempo’ presentations
  • Variable – excellent presentation by Pauline Croxon. Very helpful section by Diana C, workload session was a ‘2’
  • The most important session, some good workshopping but needed much more time, especially at this stage of developing future directions
  • Roll out plan for entire unit. Would be encouraging
  • Most was good
/ 4 / 13 / 3
Faculty Group Discussions
  • Two days would suffice – 3 is too many
  • These are always very helpful
  • Need more time for HOS to discuss their own issues
  • Many thanks
  • New venue next time please
  • Be helpful if this form was handed out to fill in as we go
