Student Representative’s Report / Harley was the guest student representative. Harley, a 10th-grade student at IDEA School, will be phased-in as a student representative to assume the position of graduating seniors.
The students have embraced the Myths and Legends unit of study.
Jacob is planning the 2nd annual scavenger hunt. Board members/area families are invited to attend/participate. October 17, starting at 10 a.m., lunch at noon, ending at four or five. Jacob will send out an email. / Jacob Eckmann
Administrator’s Report / New signage will be installed the week of September 21, 2015.
Advisor’s
Report / ·  Smooth start to IDEA School’s 5th year
·  Myths & Legends unit off to a good start
·  Tuesday, October 13, 2015, Project Palooza, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
·  Friday, October 16, 2015 – whole school (54 students) will take a field trip to Madison Space Place / Capital
·  Still waiting for ACT Aspire/ACT/Badger Scores
·  Ambassador group created a handbook over the summer
·  Creative Activity Board (CAB) planning a lock-in, scavenger hunt, defined the criteria for CAB and events
·  Student mentors had a great boot camp. For two days this summer, 12 existing students guided 12 new students through the project-based learning process.
·  Opening kickoff, held off campus, was attended by 60 to 75 percent of the families
·  Still waiting for the Work Keys Score Certificates
·  11 students took the ACTs
·  Idea School scores are very good. Higher than 91 percent of the whole state. 81 percent higher than our five county region.
·  Fourth advisor allows the school to run efficiently. Till we can maintain four advisor positions, advisors were asked to identify any responsibilities they carry that could be transferred to others (i.e. shoveling snow).
·  At Valley View, advisors don’t have direct instruction responsibilities. Every block of instruction is goal oriented. For instance, physical education enrichment could be provided by a relief teacher for a six-week Zumba class / Jacques Du Vair
Enrollment Report / ·  Currently, 54 students
·  One student dropped into homeschooling
·  Usually a five percent winter loss, ten percent overall loss.
·  Also typically gain five percent gain during the winter and midterm
·  December is the informational meeting
·  December an e-blast is sent to families in the district who have children in 5th through 10th grades
·  Letter sent to district families with students in 5th through 10th grades early in January
·  January, February, and March disseminate information to district families
·  District wants numbers by the end of March, before spring break
·  April is peak month
·  Due date on open enrollment extended to May 1 / Sue Thompson

Marketing Committee Report / ·  Target 75 students
·  Wait list of 20 students
·  January and April are the best time for advertising
·  Lottery is state mandated and needs to be part of the updated enrollment policy
·  Patrick would like a marketing budget approval that allows him to move forward with marketing events with tight deadlines. A shorter approval time with key board members will create a more efficient marketing program. / ·  Patrick will prepare a budget for presentation at the next board meeting.

Enrichment/Programming Committee — Dave Eckmann / ·  October 8, 2015, the STEM Shuttle will be parked @ IDEA School
·  At the Project Palooza put together a presentation about Labor Market Data
·  Matt Yde invited students to participate in the Mock Trial program/competition. / Advisors will determine student interest for the Mock Trial program. / Dave Eckmann
