A subsidiary of McWane Inc., Zinwave Ltd is a Cambridge based global technology company that has pioneered a new approach for reliable multi-service in-building wireless mobile phone coverage, the Zinwave 3000 active DAS (Distributed Antenna System.) Joined Zinwave as the sole tester of the latest upgrade, v4.40 (previously, testing had been done by developers!) helping to bring it to live implementation before moving on to development of v4.50 then v4.60 and v4.70. Working with software developers, liaising with hardware engineers and using limited documentation, carried out manual testing of the C/C++ software on an embedded Linux OS installed on the system’s Primary and Secondary Hub and Remote Unit configurations. Tested the firmware via web based GUIs (IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari) and using UNIX based querying of the SNMP fault and inform traps. Also, carried out a limited amount of hardware testing of DAS components. Recorded defects originally usingBugzilla but later switched to Jira.

Joined the QA team at a late stage in the development of BGL's In-House Finance project following the departure of the previous tester at short notice. BGL uses websitesfor customers to purchase new policies and PC based systems for telephone customers to purchase, amend and renew policies. Policies can also be bought via aggregators (CompareTheMarket, GoCompare, etc.) These web and PC systems, written using .NET frameworks, communicate with an AS400 system. Working from limited documentation, tested the policy creation and renewal processes for the Bennetts and Direct Dial motorcycle insurance brands and the set up of associated finance packages. Loosely following Agileprinciples, duties included writing test plans, carrying out tests, liaising with developers to resolve issues and supporting deployment of the software into the Live environment. Test plans created and defects recorded using HP Quality Centre. On renewal of contract moved on to testing of other projects including Short Term Rates, Welcome Packs, Scheduled Tasks Replacement and Polaris Rating Engine Implementation for Bennetts and Dial Direct brands.

Working from Stories written in JIRA and developing in Sprints, tested the functionality of Vehicle Viewer to accurately display vehicle movements, stops and routes, in real-time, on a range of map formats and browsers and to provide a variety of data to the user (bus company, local authority, etc.) Recorded defects using JIRA and attended regular Sprint meetings with developers to progress development and to resolve defects. Returned to TNT to test another of these solutions, ODE, TNT’s Operational Data Entry system. Joined TNT Express ICS to help test CDB (Customer Data Base,) a Common Systems project, implemented via Service Orientated Architecture using J2EE supported by a Websphere Application Server. CDB employs a browser application for Customer record maintenance developed using Websphere Portal. Updates to and from the mainframe legacy systems are carried out using Websphere MQ. Adhering to RUP (Rational Unified Process) and working from Use Cases, Business Requirement Documents and Screen Navigation Documents wrote test plans and scripts and tested browser front-end application for maintaining Customer, Account, Contact, Location and Operations information. Tested functionality of CDB to communicate with various country specific legacy systems (using Teemtalk 2000 emulator.) Recorded defects using Rational Clear Quest. Liaised with analysts and developers, on-shore and in India, to resolve defects. Followed development lifecycle through to onsite UAT in Lyon, France,pilot in Portugal, and live deployment into Eastern and Southern Europe, Germany, UK and France.

Joined the testing team at an early stage of the development of the One Account Offset Mortgage for the Group’s RBS and NatWest brands. Tested the Sales Browser front end, developed using web technologies including JavaScript, and its interaction with the original CMS (Oracle Forms) and RBS mainframe systems. Working from Application Data Dictionary, wrote test plans, performed tests, recorded results using Lotus Notes and worked with analysts and developers to resolve issues. Mainly utilised manual testing but with an introduction to the use of Mercury WinRunner. Involved throughout the development lifecycle including assisting in commissioning into Production environment and becoming part of the Offset Warranty team (3rd Line Support) resolving issues identified in Production. Then moved into the KSOR (Keep the Show on the Road) Team testing fixes and enhancements to all the Group’s mortgage products (One Account. FMO, First Active, Offset, etc.)
