David Nurre Receives 2013 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship From Kappa Beta Delta

Kappa Beta Delta International Honor Society proudly announces that David Nurre, Nashville State Community College in Nashville, Tennessee, has received the 2013 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship.

Overland Park, Kansas – April 26 2013 – David Nurre, Nashville State Community College in Nashville, Tennessee has received the 2013 Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for his commitment to academic excellence and active involvement in his community.

As a small business operations manager, Nurre observed the ability of the accountants he worked with to effectively analyze and understand operational matters in a larger, yet nuanced, context. Inspired, Narre decided to pursue an education in accounting, with the goal of becoming a Certified Bookkeeper for a non-profit organization.

Already, Nurre is using his accounting knowledge to assist others. He volunteers his time and skills with Friends Life, a burgeoning Nashville non-profit organization supporting young adults with developmental disabilities. Nurre’s efforts have earned him a nomination by Friends Life for the Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Award and Tennessee Titans Community Quarterback Award, both of which recognize outstanding volunteerism.

“David exemplifies an outstanding ability to balance school with his responsibilities at home. While completing his degree, he has also been the sole caregiver for his aging parents. David shows great care for both his personal and professional commitments. David is also strongly committed to his community. He is the most prolific volunteer we have in our Chapter. In fact, David is so enthusiastic about community service, he actually volunteered to speak at our Kappa Beta Delta Induction Ceremony on the importance of volunteering!” says Cathy G. Thomas, CPA, Instructor at Nashville State Community College.
