Fri 26th Oct – Interschool Athletics Carnival @ ENPS

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

There is NO assembly this Friday 26 October as per last week’s term planner due to the Interschool carnival. Another date is yet to be confirmed.

As Term Four is our planning term for next year we have started looking at class numbers for 2013. If your family will not be here next year, could you please let the office staff know ASAP.

On the last day of term three, Michelle Scott, the Commissioner for Children and Young People WA visited the school to meet and talk with our students. Student councillors met Commissioner Scott and guided her to points of interest around the school and introduced her to class teachers. Commissioner Scott commented on the student councillors' obvious pride in Narrogin Primary School and thanked them for organising her tour of the school.

Commissioner Scott has the responsibility to advocate on behalf of all children and young people in Western Australia. Her regional visits are an important part of informing her work about the unique issues that impact on the health and well-being of children and young people in these areas.

Vi Barham Award

We are excited to announce that our school has a year seven student in the top ten of the prestigious “Vi Barham Award”. The top ten are chosen from students in the Narrogin district. Congratulations to Meg Barry and good luck for the final selection process.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Please be advised that our School Psychologist will be interviewing a group of students over the next few weeks. The students will be randomly selected to answer two brief questions and their responses will be anonymous. The purpose of this is to provide information on our current whole school behaviour management systems. Please notify the school if you do not give permission for your child to be interviewed.

NO NUTS PLEASE

Some students at our school have a severe allergy to nuts and could go into anaphylactic shock. Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of allergic reaction and is potentially life threatening. In order for the school to minimise the risk for these students, it is requested that parents do not send foods containing any type of nuts (including tree nuts, peanut butter and Nutella) to school with their child. The sharing of food can be a further risk and we would ask you to work with the staff at the school to discourage this practice.

NARROGIN SHOW DISPLAY

We hope that you had the opportunity to check out our Show display on the weekend. Our main theme was the ‘Year of the Farmer’ – a very appropriate theme for an agricultural show. A huge thank you to all of the students and staff at the school for their amount of effort putting this display together, with special thanks to Mrs Yvonne Scott for her super efforts with the overall co-ordination. Thank you to those students who volunteered for the huge task of packing up, including Roger Hall and Fairway Carriers. It was a team effort that made this display the success that it was.
