What a series!! The story setting is in Ohio. The characters are family members by kinship or tight knitted friends so close they are thought of and cared for like family. They are known as the Cleveland CREW.

This series delivers a VERY Good READ with plots such as: teenage defiance, insecurity, loyalty, promiscuity, drugs, honor, insecurities and consequences. The story line takes you into the lives of a group of teenagers. They are a likable group of none fearing young teenagers. They hang out just like teens and dab into both teen and adult entertainment and activities. Others either like them or fears them while some envy and seek vengeance upon them. As you step into their lives and become a witness to their challenges and circumstances, you too will choose to be for them or against them. Be Aware, to be against them may cost you and yours.

Both novels will take you through a mixture of emotions and heartfelt moments. The author did a wonderful job with the development of each character presented in the novel. Bravo! You will root for the crew, ride out with the crew, choose your favorite crew member, listen to granny share her wisdom, and feel the mothers anguish and wonder why the fathers have a double standard.

Will the Cleveland Crew become all their parents worked and raised them to be or will they falter away from the life they parents had instilled in them to become for the life of crime, jail and fast money? Who will survive?

Characters: AJ, something about him I liked but another part of me despised him at times. He is definitely a dude with that Do or Die attitude, very dauntless. Ebony, she will make you look at your daughter every time she walks by giving her that corner eye stare. lol. Her character is strong willed, un- experienced, intelligent, and talented and very impressed with AJ. The story line is centered on these two but there are other characters you are easily drawn to. They are the fourth generation, they are the Cleveland Crew.

I was rather disturbed by the author choice to present the family genealogy continually in the midst of the story line. The author kept each character engaged in the readers mind. Every scene seem befitting to the moment. Reader’s minds are transported into their world. I love unpredictable occurrences in a novel and the author scoops those in the story line like your favorite dessert.

At times I wondered if the book series is a True story. My emotions are distraught about Ebony and AJ relationship. I first had mixed emotions about Chill however I like his discipline, patience and calmness. I’m just going to leave AJ character alone, he’s stone crazy, but respectful. I was in tears for Brianna and Renee. I wanted to be in my car on the other side of Ebony to intercept her mishap.

I got to finish this series. I must find out the fate of the Cleveland Crew and I’m close to learning the hidden secret within a crew member that the others don’t know about.

A Time to Learn and A Time to Grow are worthy reads. This series will make for an excellent book club selection; there are many angels for thorough discussion.

Note. This is street literature so if you prefer not to read profanity or vulgar language, DO NOT READ this series. There are a few editing blunders but they did not hamper my reading.
