The Data & Research Analyst reports to the Senior Associate Director, Employer & Alumni Engagement. This position involves a high level of judgment and autonomy and requires good knowledge of career services policies and procedures. The position requires an experienced professional with statistical expertise and initiative. The Data & Research Analyst will play a key role in helping to create high level end-user management reports that will impact the department’s strategic goals.

Duties involve assisting the Senior Associate Director, Employer & Alumni Engagement, Senior Associate Director, Career Education & Counseling, and Associate Vice President/Executive Director of the Hameetman Career Center with research, reports and projects, including needs analyses for career services.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS

  1. Design processes and reports for career services decision making by:
  • Designing, constructing and maintaining systems for data reporting and sharing purposes using relational databases and appropriate software
  • Independently researching, compiling and preparing reports and special studies that support career services planning and budgeting
  • Evaluating and organizing data to draw valuable insights that can be used to take immediate action to improve the student user experience and inform future career services.
  • Developing implications from analyses and making recommendations to career services management team regarding actions to be taken
  • Extracting data from operational systems for inclusion in databases and reports
  • Attending meetings within career services and, as needed, across the college to discuss, analyze, and problem solve reporting issues
  • Maintaining a schedule of reports with due dates, delegation of responsibilities, and dates completed
  • Track data and generate performance reports including weekly and monthly performance dashboards, semester-end reports, annual reports, employer and alumni engagement reports, and career education and advising reports.
  • Manage the research and identification of prospective employers and alumni for key industries and events.
  • Create, administer, and analyze surveys and assessments to gauge student, alumni, employer satisfaction, and overall career center performance.
  1. Create and manage business intelligence, data policies, procedures and standards within career services as directed by:
  • Working with career services’ leadership team on internal and external reporting processes and surveys
  • Verifying reports, contain accurate and complete data prior to submission
  • Assessing and evaluating career education, counseling, and employer engagement programming.
  • Establishing guidelines and protocols to help identify and eliminate fraudulent employers and job postings in career management system.
  1. Serve as the lead administrator for Hameetman Career Center technology by:
  • Serving as the expert on all career services online platforms including Handshake, Salesforce, CareerShift, Vault, Adobe Connect, and all new technology.
  • Leading and serving as project manager for all new technology implementations.
  • Acting as the system expert to support configuration, maintenance, updates, governance and ongoing coordination with ITS and vendor account manager.
  • Developing and leading career education workshops to train students on how to use and maximize all career services technology and resources, including data analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Identifying and recommending technological solutions to improve the delivery of career services to students and alumni.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in a field related to educational research, statistics, business intelligence, or another closely related field
  • Training, background and proficiency with research design, data collection and analysis
  • A minimum 2-4 years of experience in a similar role or managing data analytics, data insights, assessment and evaluation.
  • Detailed understanding of how to pull data from a relational database, then analyze and report data and information for strategic decision making
  • Experience working in university or college career services department desired, but not required.
  • Experience using Handshake, Symplicity, GradLeader, or Salesforceor other CRM desired.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining dashboards for key performance measurements
  • Ability to present data in a manner that appeals to different audience including students, faculty, administrators, employers and alumni.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with complex files/tables.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Project management experience, desired.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently on projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
  • It is required, per Federal I9 guidelines, that candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
