Dear prospective band student:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Richlands High School and the Richlands High School band program. We are an organization with the desire toencouragemusic excellencethrougheducation and performance. Most importantly, our goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience that will build friendships, teach life-long lessons, and create lasting memories.
I am excited that you have consideredbeing a member of the highly acclaimed “Wildcat Regiment”. Our marching band is the most visible part of our program, and is very active during the fall semester. We perform at all football games, parades, two of which are televised, and compete against other high school ensembles beginningearly fall. Above all, we have fun through performances and experiences!
In order to prepare for the 2015 season, we will be institutingour first ever Wildcat RegimentOrientation which will be held July 29th thru July 30th. Thesedaysare designed to help all new members become familiar with musicand marching fundamentals that will be usedthis year. Band camp for all students will begin the first week of August to prepare for the season. The first week will be August 3rd-7th and the second week will be August 10th-14th. Times and details will be listed on the Fall 2015 Marching Band Calendar, posted on the “forms” page of our school’s band website. A tentative calendar has been attached with this letter.
The marching band fees are also attached to this packet as well. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. The fees cover the instructors who assist us throughout the season, the music we perform, equipment, show design, transportation, competition registration fees, and other overhead expenses that come along. Please understand that these fees are what help keep our program going. Everyone in our organization is provided with an opportunity to fundraise, and a percentage of that money goes into student “accounts.” The money can be used to pay for their fees. All new members are required to pay their fees their first year, but may begin fundraising or paying their fees right away, eventually being able to cover future fees as well. You may break your fees into separate payments, either on a weekly or monthly plan. However, fees must be paid in full by August 14, 2015.
On behalf of Richlands High School and the band program, I would like to say thank you and we hope to see you become a part of our 2015 season.
Sincerely,
Greg Shreckengost
