Centers:

Thurs 12:45-2:00pm
Kindergarten Parties:
We have four kindergarten parties a year – Halloween, Holiday, 100th Day, and Space. We will rotate through all four kdg classrooms. We will also have a Valentine’s Day party and End of Year party that wil be in our room. We will need parent volunteers for all of those days and will send out a Sign Up Genius link closer to time.
Homework folders:
Your child will bring home a homework folder every day except Friday. I keep the folders on Fridays.
Please check the folder daily, take out any papers from school, then return folder the next day.
Homework:
Homework is posted on our class website every Friday for the following week. Please read the cover sheet for homework instructions and due dates. You can do the homework any time, but please only turn in the homework on the due date (not before).
Newsbook:
Every other Friday we will send home a Newsbook binder. It will include a newsletter from me, a page of work from your child, and a blank sheet. Please use the blank sheet to write a letter to your child. Your letter can be in response to what your child wrote/drew
Snack/Lunch:
We eat snack/lunch at the picnic tables outside our classrooms. Your child can sit at any table, with friends from all classes. There are supervisors on duty during snack/lunch at on the playground during this time. There is a peanut-free table for students with peanut allergies.
We break for snack/recess at 9:30 each day. Please pack your child a snack separate from his/her lunch.
Our lunch/recess is at 11:30 each day.
We do not refrigerate lunches, so you should pack an ice pack in your child’s lunchbox. Likewise, we do not heat up lunches. Please put your child’s name on his/her lunchbox!
If you would like to order school lunches, you must fill out the lunch menu form before the first day of the month. You will circle each day your child will order. You pay online, but you still must turn in the order form. There is a box to order sack lunches if there is a minimum day that month.
Please keep a copy of the form so you know which days your child has lunch. You can send the form to the classroom and we’ll pass it along to the office.
Water bottles:
We have a water fountain in the classroom, but I recommend bringing a water bottle too. Students keep them in their backpacks and take drinks as we come back from recess and P.E. They may also bring them to lunch. Please put your name on your child’s water bottle.
Lost and Found:
We have a lost and found cart near the MPR. Please LABEL all jackets, lunchboxes, and water bottles with your child’s name.
Attendance:
If your child is going to be absent, please email the attendance clerk, Renee Torres () and copy me so I’ll know.
If your child will be gone for 5+ days, please see the office for an independent contract. Please notify them as soon as possible, so we can gather work with your child. It’s important for extended absences, because our school does not lose money for absences if your child has an independent contract.
Birthdays:
We celebrate your child’s birthday with a song, sticker, and a certificate. Your child will bring home a birthday backpack for that night, please return it the following day (we often have back to back birthdays). We make an imaginary cake for your child, but we don’t do cupcakes or food.
If you would like to do something special for your child, you may send in a book or board game for our class. Please contact me if you’d like to come in to read the birthday book to the class.
We will celebrate summer birthdays before the end of the year.
If you are having a party and are inviting the whole class, you may pass out invitations to their cubbies. However, you are not inviting everyone, please distribute the invitations privately.
Behavior System - Bear Bucks:
Students earn “Bear Bucks” for good behavior. Every other Friday your child uses the Bear Bucks to purchase prizes. We need a lot of prizes, so please consider donating throughout the year.
VIP:
Every child will have the opportunity to be our VIP for one week of the year. Your child will bring home our class “dog” Andy.
Art at Your Fingertips:
Our class will have a docent-led art lesson approximately once a month in the art room. This is an amazing program, where students participate in lessons about many different types of art and artists. We will send a reminder before the date for your child to dress in clothes that can get messy. Students wear aprons but sometimes still get messy. We will also request volunteers to help on those dates.
Scholastic Book Orders:
We will send home Scholastic book orders once a month. Our classroom code is PM834.
We earn free books for the classroom with each order placed. Thanks for your support!
