1.  Meeting call to order: 7:02p

ii. Reading of the July’s meeting minutes.

b.  President’s Report (Randy Yenser) -Randy thanked everyone from coming out; desire to get families/people involved.

c.  Vice President’s Report (Dan Brown) - Equipment returntonight; email Dan if forgottonight. Tom Curley asked if any t-ball coaches emailed. Only one coach emailed and let them know they could not make it.

d.  Treasurer’s Report Greg Whelan (see report)

i.  Checking account: $29.890.42

ii. Petty Cash: $420.00

iii.  Snack stand: $20.00

iv.  Total: $30,330.42

v. Other notables: Compared to last year, we are up $21,000 which places us in a good position to make much needed capital improvements. We also are still looking to collect on outstanding sponsorships totally in the area of $3000-4000.

vi.  If anyone has outstanding items to be paid, please see Greg with receipts.

e.  Softball Director’s Report (Wayne Dotterweich)

i.  12U Inferno tryouts started this past weekend.

ii. 14U Inferno tryouts starting this week.

iii.  Fall ball: Coaching requests: anyone interested should contact Wayne.

iv.  August 15th- Tri County meeting for fall ball was held to begin discussions for season. (10/12U)

f.  Logistics Coordinator’s Report (Lori Pence) - not much to report; website open for fall registration (until Aug 15th)

g.  League Representative’s Report (Lori Pence)

i.  Local teams went to regionals this year.

ii. Fall ball: Baseball same format - Berks league

1.  We asked to keep DBYS somewhat local: Pine Forge, Exeter, East Brandywine, Birdsboro, East Coventry

2.  At end of season they will choose two players from each team for all-star team

3.  Dan received requests for coaching fall baseball:

a.  4 minor; 2 assistant for minor; 2 major

h.  Buddy Ball Report (Traci Huddleson) – Tom Curley mentioned the fundraiser for Maverik) Poker Run: October 13th 11am. 25$/person; Register bySept 30th- (http://community-buzz.com/blog/2013/08/04/save-the-date-king-of-our-hearts-ride-fundraiser-for-mav/ )

4.  Old Business:

a.  League Representative Nominations & Voting: Steve Miller, Matt Gonder, Eric Detweiler (Eric’s nomination challenged based on bylaws requiring individual to be present at meeting)

i.  After validation that both nominees attended three meetings this year, Matt Gonder was elected new League Rep.

b.  Capital Improvements (in priority order)

i.  Batting cage - Lake Drive

ii. T-ball field improvements - Tom Curley stated the guy who tilled them last time will come back. Township stated we can use the dymatec at middle school - we need to move from middle school to t-ball fields.

iii.  Storage at Hill Road - additional shed

iv.  Question on how we prioritize: Randy/Greg stated it's based on longevity of issue/safety (trailer), etc

c.  Rules Changes

i.  T-ball:

1.  Pitch to the kids for the second half of the season- batters would get 3 swings then go to a tee if unable to put the ball in play(Favor: 20; Opposed: 0 – PASS)

ii. Rookie:

1.  Clarify- no big barrel bats in the rules - Call Ripkin rule - will be added in. No vote needed.

2.  Outfielder cannot touch a base to make a force out at a base. Add outfielders in outfield at least 6-10 ft (Favor: 21; Opposed: 0 - PASS)

3.  Clarification of when the play is considered dead- Outfielder throwing the ball towards the infield runners need to be held. New verbiage to be added: Outfielder has released the ball. (Favor: 17; Opposed:0 - PASS)

iii.  Minors:

1.  Single to double elimination (Favor: 0; Opposed: 7 - REJECTED)

iv.  Majors:

1.  Lead Line:

a.  Move lead line from 8ft- to 10ft. (Favor: 7; Opposed: 4 -PASS)

b.  Elimination of the lead line at the major level. (Favor: 0; Opposed: 14 - REJECTED)

2.  Clarification: catcher duties to the four innings- if the catcher catches one pitch is it an inning. One pitch or catch or out equates to one inning. (Favor: 16; Opposed: 0 - PASS)

3.  Remove the reference to the radius at the mound with regards to when a runner will be able to advance- change to must be engaged on the rubber.(Favor: 12l Opposed: 1 - PASS)

4.  Playoffs- true pitch count- max. 6 per week, allowing a kid to throw to the 75 limit – but 6 innings max. This would eliminate in playoffs the 4 inning max for pitching per game. (Favor: 15; Opposed: 1 - PASS)

5.  New Business:

a.  Fall Ball Registration is open. This year it will be a hard close for registration unlike in past years where we would allow individuals in past the deadline date.

b.  Sponsorship Committee – Board asking for individuals to spearhead new committee to organize and manage sponsors. The board is currently drafting a letter from DBYS to current sponsors. Need a few individuals to lead the initiative in late fall - at latest January?

c.  Baseball Tournament Coach Nominations – Nominations will be taken in September and October – voting in November.

d.  Softball:

i.  10U – Camille has not committed to coaching 10U Inferno. Was given deadline of Friday, August 2nd, but has not returned calls with decision. Inferno families and board agreed that if we do not get a commitment from Camille before tryouts begin, we should cancel tryouts. Wayne to send blast to all softball families with cancellation.

ii. 8U Program Discussion -Inferno families and board discussed many options regarding structure of the 8U (and overall Inferno program) next year. No final determination was made, but agreed to have another meeting in the near future to continue discussions. Board was very clear that they do not have a desire to disband the Inferno program, but we need to bring the program in line with Babe Ruth rules. Options including moving Inferno to a pure travel team, possibly under USSSA rules were discussed. Next meeting scheduled for:
