Christmas 2017

Welcome from our Partners

As you will all be aware the NHS is under enormous pressure trying to cope with the increasing demands placed upon it. At Danebridge we have been equally affected, and this, in combination with decreased GP availability meant we were allowed to close our practice list to new patient registrations for a few months. From June 2017 we reopened our list and we can register anyone who wishes who lives within our practice boundaries.

Any patients who move house and their address is outside the practice boundaries will be asked to move to another practice, even if their current address is also outside of the practice boundaries. We are also reviewing the addresses of our current patients and will be requiring patients who live well outside the practice boundaries to register with an alternative practice. We will be reassessing this regularly in order to keep the practice size to one where we can offer a safe, quality service to patients who are legitimately registered with Danebridge. The practice boundaries can be viewed on our website or at any of the surgeries.

Please also be patient with our reception team who the GPs have instructed to ask for a reason when patients request an appointment. This is in order to help direct patients to the most appropriate person which may be our practice pharmacist, nurses, Health Care Assistants or secretaries. There are a limited number of patients any GP can safely see in a day so we must try to use these as appropriately as possible.

We would encourage you to make sure that the NHS and especially the crisis in recruitment of GPs is not overlooked, so please do raise the issue with your newly elected MPs. In the meantime, we will endeavour to offer as responsive, safe and quality service as possible.

We wish you and your loved one's an enjoyable and healthy Festive Season.

SELF CARE/medication CCG ruling

NHS Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) undertook a formal consultation regarding self-care prescribing, proposing that patients buy medication for minor ailments rather than being prescribed by their GP.

There was strong public support for the proposal, therefore the CCG has directed GP’s to stop prescribing these treatments and medicines. Patients will be expected to buy them themselves over the counter at a local pharmacy or supermarket.

The PPG have continued to run health promotions throughout the year including the Sunsafe campaign and
