Welcome to 4th Grade
Mrs. Julie Smith’s Class
Daily Take Home Folder
This folder will be taken home each day with your child and MUST be returned daily. It will contain your child’s homework and notes to/from school.
Graded Papers Folder
Graded papers will be sent home on Thursday of each week in a separate folder. Please look over your child’s work and sign the front page and return it on Friday. You may keep these papers. If your child makes a grade lower than a 70 on an assignment, he/she may correct it AT SCHOOL for a 70. Tests cannot be corrected.
Class Newsletters
Every week your child will receive a newsletter. It will always be placed in your child’s daily take home folder. It includes upcoming events, spelling words, reading vocabulary words, and the different topics we are currently studying in class.
Homework
Your child will have homeworkevery evening Monday-Thursday. He/She needs to read his/her library book and practice multiplication facts every evening. Your child will have a Spelling Menu to complete for homework every week. Sometimes a worksheet or a project will be assigned. Please ask your child daily what needs to be completed.
I expect all homework and classwork to be turned in on time. Students will not be allowed to call home if they forget their work. Students should pack their backpacks at night with all the materials needed for the next day. Organization is the key to success!
**If your child does not complete his/her homework, he/she will have to sign the book and miss part of recess for that day.

Behavior Management System
If your child has a behavior problem during the day, he/she will sign the book and receive an “I’m so Blue” note home. Please sign the slip and return it the following day. REMEMBER: If your conduct grade is low, you will not be on the honor roll or rising star list at the award ceremony.
Conduct grades for the six weeks will be determined by how many times your child signs the book. Each time your child signs the book, his/her conduct grade will drop 4 points.
