2016Open Enrollment

da Vinci Staff,

I am honored to tell you that da Vinci is going to be offering benefits to its full time staff beginning on October 1st, 2016. The board, students, parents and staff appreciate how much you give to your school. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Not only are we adding medical, but we will be offering dental, vision, life and disability coverage as well. You may be thinking that we are starting small and are not able to offer you coverage equal to other districts. Nothing could be further from the truth. The coverage by comparison is equal to most local school districts. Not only will the coverage be as good, but the cost for you to enroll in the medical plan will be less than what most teachers are paying.

This is an important step in continuing to improve our school. We know benefits are an important piece to help us retain and attract the brightest educators our county has to offer. We know there is more to be done, but as long as you keep working every day to be the best you can be, and require the same from your students, board, administration and fellow staff members, we will get there.

We realize no one plan can best suit every employee, but based on the survey and information Cherie gathered, we have chosen some great options that best fit the vast majority of employees. We also decided to not provide any opt out money. We wanted to use every dollar available to us forthose that needed it. Our medical coverage will be provided by Blue Care Network. It is the company that I myself am enrolled with at work. Our office has been very pleased in working with BCN. They are an HMO and part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield family.

**Please note that contributions to benefits are pre-taxed, thus reducing their actual costs.

Blue Care Network Plan: The value of Blue Care Network starts with their strong state-wide hospital network which includes most providers in Michigan including Allegiance Henry Ford, Sparrow, U of M, St. Joe and Detroit Medical Center. Blue Care Network has also seen much success through their focus on Primary Providers. BCN’s approach to managing treatment via the Primary Doctor has allowed them to reduce catastrophic claims and costs. Employees are receiving more preventive services while being encouraged to make lifestyle changes that will result in longer, healthier lives. Here are some details of the plan:

Deductible / $500 /$1000
Office Copay / $20
Specialist Copay / $30
Urgent Care / $35
Generic Drug Copay / $4 or $15
Brand Drug Copay / $40

Here are your Monthly Costs for the BCN Plan:

Enrolling / Bi-Weekly Costs
Single / $46.15
Two Party / $92.31

The better BCN plan, shown above, requires you (and a spouse on the plan) complete an annual physical and blood work. You also need to go on bcbsm.com and complete a health assessment. Further requirements may apply if you smoke or have a BMI over 30.

Dental Plan: KCL Group Benefits is one of the largest providers of dental benefits in this area. They are easy to work with, easy to enroll with and are very helpful if or when you have an issue. The best part of their plan is there is no network. You can visit any dentist and KCL Group Benefits will pay them directly. Simply ask your provider for a predetermination of benefits to find out what KCL will pay. KCL pays all dentists an average of the cost for the procedure in Jackson. 2. July 27th from Noon to 3pm

If you are electing to enroll in medical coverage please plan around thirty minutes to meet with an individual from the insurance company. If you are waiving medical coverage, but are interested in dental, vision, life and disability it will take less. If you are opting out of all coverage you will still need to sign waivers and enroll in the life and disability coverage.
