Motivation:Describe here your personal intent, explaining why you are keen to work in the Young Scientist Forum and elaborate on your interest in one or multiple specific positions in the board. Indicate any qualification or past achievements that recommend you for the preferential position.

I have been working in the biomaterials field since I started my PhD in the 2008 at the University of Genoa (Italy). My research activity at that time was focused on the development of novel bone cements based on calcium phosphate for the treatment of bone tissue.During the second year of my PhD course I moved to the UK at the King’s College London to perform biological studies on the materialsI produced. That experience (to move abroad) significantly forwarded my scholarly career. In London I had the opportunity not only to carry out my research with facilities not available in my“home” department but also of interacting with colleagues ofseveral foreign countries and thus to discover my communicative skills, that, at the end, pushed me to apply and successfully take the position of educational officer of the UKSB-YSF and ESB-YSF Society forBiomaterials (2011).In the past four years I have been involved in several activities aimed to disseminate knowledge among young scientists in Europe and not only. For instance, I was co-organiser of the YSF events held at the 9th World Biomaterials Conference in China as well as of those events held at the 25th ESB conference in Spain. In my view, workshops aimed toyoung scientistshow to perform much better intheir work activities at different levels, are extremely important. Thus, I promoted and organised the UKSB & ESB-YSF Careers Workshop in London in the 2013 and I was involved in the organization of the last 2015 ESB-YSF event held in Bucharest. My motivations bringing me today to re-apply for the vacant position, are the same as four years ago: my strong believe in the importance of the divulgation of science, new knowledge, research and award (European Doctoral Award: EDA) opportunity, training and tips coming from senior fellowstowards the young scientists in Europe.

Possible Achievements:This paragraph is intended for your view on the future of YSF.

The activities I would like to engage are focused on an enhancement of the network built up to connect young scientists in my previous commitment, as well as a further improvement of the divulgation system of news of interest for the young scientist and related with the biomaterials filed such as, training opportunities, job vacancies and scientific workshops.

Communication skills: Please list your languages knowledge (only communication level).

Italian,

English

French

Any other ideas/remarks: This is totally up to you

In my view, in the near future the YSF should improve its connecting role between the young scientist and the European research environment, by updating more often the job and carrier section of the ESB web site with new job opportunities and short or long–term visiting researcher stays.
