Primary Objectives of Position / 1. Undertake site visits to sign up apprentices, conduct pre-training enrolment activities and meet with employers of apprentices
2. Promote apprenticeship programs offered by Holmesglen
3. Liaise with employers to assist in developing strategies to assist Holmesglen apprentices to complete their apprenticeship.
4. Liaise with apprenticeship support network (ASSN) providers to ensure apprentices are efficiently signed up..

  • Liaise with teaching staff in the faculties of Building, Construction and Engineering, and Education, Service Skills and Environment.

  • Liaise with employers of apprentices and trainees.
  • Liaise with industry representatives and potential employers.
  • Liaise with apprenticeship support network (ASSN) providers and Skills Victoria apprentice field officers.

Specific Accountabilities / 1. Manage workplace enrolments to maximise compliance with Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards and Victorian government funding contracts.
2. Ensure apprentices, trainees, employers and ASSN providers are provided with apprentice/trainee documentation and information on mode of apprenticeship/trainee training delivery in accordance with agreed timelines.
3. Provide relevant documentation to teaching departments in accordance with agreed workflow processes and timelines.
4. Source, develop and maintain business opportunities for apprentice/trainee programs offered by Holmesglen.
5. Participate in meetings, open days/evenings, awards festival and other activities as required that are relevant to the role.
6. Ensure administrative documentation is completed as per Holmesglen, Skills Victoria and ASQA timelines.
7. Maintain the requirements of the Holmesglen Management System and relevant reporting requirements.
8. Other professional duties in support of the administration, coordination and promotion of programs as directed by the Manager.
9. Awareness of ethics, access, equity, equal opportunity and social justice rules and principles and the application of these when dealing with students and colleagues.
10. Act in accordance with Holmesglen’s safety policies and procedures to ensure your work area and its occupants comply with relevant OH&S legislation
Qualifications / Minimum
  • Trade training qualification at Certificate III
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current vehicle licence
Preferred
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE).

Knowledge /
  • Sound knowledge of the apprenticeships/traineeships in terms of their administration, modes of training delivery and roles of employers, ASSN’s and training providers.
  • Understanding of ASQA standards and Victorian Training Guarantee funding for apprentices & trainees.
  • Understanding of the relevant training packages.
  • Sound knowledge of the requirements of AQF.

Experience /
  • Teaching experience is preferred
  • Extensive industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a co-operative manner with others and independently.

Skills /
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are required to establish and maintain sound relationships with students, general staff and other teachers.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to reschedule daily tasks dependant on meeting apprentices is essential.
  • Proven ability to show initiative and work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office, CRM and SMS Database systems.

Key Selection Criteria / 1. Extensive experience in training apprentices/trainees and/or monitoring apprentices/trainees in the workplace.
2. Ability to work without direct supervision on a daily basis
3. Effective written and verbal communication skills along with excellent organisational and time management skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work in a co-operative manner with others with high level customer service and interpersonal excellence.
5. Demonstrated excellent computer skills and the ability to utilise a range of electronic technologies within a learning environment.
6. Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and time management.
Note /
  • The Incumbent may be required to perform his/her duties at any campus or location controlled by Holmesglen Institute or elsewhere as directed.
