CURRENT POSITION/FUNCTION

1.  Executive Secretary, Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network, an international network coordinating World Council of Churches work on disability. The mandate of the Programme is to advocate for the inclusion, participation and active involvement of persons with disabilities in spiritual, social, economic and political life in their societies

2.  Chairperson and Member of the Refugee Consortium of Kenya Board. This is a national organization that deals with the problems of and advocacy for the refugees.

3.  Member of the World Committee on Disability: A judge for The Franklin Delano Roosevelt International Disability annual award to states with best programmes and services to persons with disabilities for 20 years now.

4.  Member of Eastern Africa Federation of the Disabled (EAFOD) Board. This is the Sub-regional Affiliate of the Pan African Federation of the Disabled and it is made up of National umbrella organizations in the 15 countries of the Sub-region.

OTHER MAIN ACTIVITIES IN THE FIELD RELEVANT TO THE MANDATE OF THE TREATY BODY CONCERNED

1.  Served as a delegate from Kenya in the UN Ad hocCommittee on Integral andComprehensive Convention on Promotion and Protection of the Rightsand Dignity of Persons with Disabilities that resulted in a Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities whose advocacy for ratification and implementation in different parts of the World now forms sizeable part of my work.

2.  I have offered consultancy services in such assignments like the preparation of the Kenya NationalDisability Policy, Disability act 2003 and the ongoing process of reviewing it.

3.  Actively participated in the process of developing the Sustainable Development Goals and now engaged in advocating for meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities in their implementation.

4.  I served as a member of National SteeringCommittee on the implementation of the African Decade for Personswith Disabilities in which capacity I participated in the preparation of the African decade for persons with disabilities strategy paper

5.  A member of Kenya Society for the Blind Governing Council: 1983 to 2007.

6.  Kenya Union of the Blind : General Secretary from 1983 – 1985, National Vice Chairman from 1990 – 1993, A Board member until 2004

7.  Founder Chairperson of the United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK).

8.  Member of the Board of Trustees- National Development fund for Persons with disabilities (Under the National Council for Persons with Disabilities): 2009 to 2012

9.  Member of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Governing Council from 2009 to 2012. The responsibility of the Council include providing guidance on all matters relating to Africa Peer Review Mechanism, gathering information on the views of the citizens on Governance and development issues and preparation of the Country review reports.

3.  National Ecumenical Award: Leadership and Service award 2007 conferred by the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) in honour of my ecumenical, advocacy and development work in their service
