PRESIDENT’S CONFERENCE ROOM – KNIGHT CAMPUS

AGENDA

PROPOSALS

Theatre

Revised ProgramTheatre – Performance Track and

Technical Theatre Track 61 credits

Originators: Cheri Markward

and Theatre faculty

RATIONALE: The department proposes the elimination of one course, THEA1090, as a major requirement. The course is not intended for majors, it is a general education course and it does not transfer as a program requirement. Removing the course from the requirements does not mean a theatre major cannot take it, since it can be taken as a THEA elective. This change brings the total program credits more in line with the goal of 60 credits.

REVISED CATALOG DESCRIPTION: No change. THEA-1090 will be stricken from the Major Core Requirements and Total Major Core Credits adjusted to 24. Total Program Credits will be adjusted to 61.

RATIONALE: The changes proposed reflect the result of departmental review of program and course outcomes as well as feedback from our advisory board meetings. With a significant number of students in this program planning on pursuing a career in Computer Science or transferring to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, we see the need to increase the depth of their programing experience by requiring a two course sequence in a programing language. From feedback we received from our advisory board as well as feedback from our capstone course (COMP-1230), we see a need for students in this program to have a background in project management which explains the addition of the Microsoft Project course (COMI-2015) to the curriculum.

REVISED CATALOG DESCRIPTION: No change.

REVISED CATALOG DESCRIPTION: No change.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Attached is a spreadsheet with corrections to Business, Science and Technology courses that were not in compliance with credit hour definition. Note course proposals will be forthcoming for two courses, BUSN-2070 and CSCO-2010 due to the change in the number of credit hours.
  • The Engineering and Technology Department is requesting an addition/adjustmentto the 2014-2015 CCRI catalog.

In 2013 the CNC Manufacturing certificates were approved by the Curriculum Review Committee. This authorization included approving the certificates as an ETST degree track. Currently the ETST degree has three tracks and the CNC courses will create a fourth track.

Integrating the CNC Manufacturing certificate into the degree has necessitated some adjustments to the core and track courses to maintain a 64-credit maximum for all tracks.

Attached is a side-by-side listing of the ETST degree for 2013-2014 and the proposed 2014-2015 catalog. The proposed 2014-2015 catalog listing reflects integrating the certificate courses into the ETST degree.

Note: the overall learning outcomes have not changed
