Present: Terry Jentsch (Chair),Dan Campbell, Julie Fodor, Gwen Mitchell,Janice Carson, Paul Gathercoal, Alex Hollingshead, Melissa McConnell, Teresa Million
QUORUM MET
Minutes
Dan moved to approve minutes. Alex seconded. Motion passed.
Danielson Training
Sally and Melissa will be presenting a training in the afternoon of April 10, following the meetings.
This will probably only be available in person.
We can bring CdA people down here for April 10. Boise would need a different option.
This is open to Ag Ed, Music Ed, and PETE.
Accreditation
University Regional Accreditation System
Northwest Commission will be here April 20-23. We don’t have any information about what would be required of us, if anything.
Annual assessment will be a big part of this.
Area for Improvement
We have one AFI from NCATE – diversity. This needs to be addressed. The CAEP standards are different than NCATE, so this will be addressed more frequently than in the past.
Needs to be systematic, and beyond what we were doing at the NCATE review.
This is on a continuous improvement model.
Alex uses videos that include students from diverse backgrounds.
One of her assignments has students include families from diverse backgrounds.
Manual Review
The 2015 draft is attached to the agenda.
The goal is to have it ready for the May meeting.
Terry has added some information about internships.
What about the 16-week half time option? Should we include it even though we don’t use it? There is support for staying with the 8-week option.
Special Ed Internship Placement
There is a document attached to the agenda regarding placements. This is the one we have been using. Do we want to stick with this one, and do we want it in the manual?
Melissa is working on a form. We will discuss this at the next meeting.
J.S. Internship Request
She is already teaching in Special Ed. She is requesting a specialize internship.
How do we know that it’s carried out? Sally ensures that it gets done.
Internship request was approved by the program committee.
Program Survey for Spring 2015
Alex created a survey for current students on the quality of the program. Alex has been working with Dan. A proposed questionnaire is attached to the agenda.
Perhaps it could be combined with the end-of-program survey. Students answer questions based on whether or not they’re graduating.
It is logical for advisors to send the surveys out to their respective advisees.
C&I Productivity
Kudos to everyone. Tenure-track and clinical faculty are all doing a great job. Data is attached to the agenda. Faculty evaluations have been finalized by Paul with the Dean.
Summer and Fall Schedules
Need Instructors
We have several needs, none of which are EDSP courses.
The list is attached to the agenda.
iSEM Courses
These are 1-credit seminars. There are several attachments on the agenda if you are willing to teach a section of iSEM.
We do have one section that will be taught in the fall. We need at least one more.
Paul is working with Brian Dulin to coordinate one for the drug and alcohol program to train students to be a part of that program.
We need to get these on the books ASAP.
A TA might be a possibility, with faculty supervision.
Summer Availability
Paul’s summer schedule is attached to the agenda. It is limited—80 hours total for the summer.
Meeting adjourned at 11:08 a.m.
