Elementary Curriculum Change

Five programs (Lit, Math, Sci, Social Sci, Special Ed) – endorsements

Elementary Ed courses, math endorsement + Middle School Praxis

Need advisement sheets for math middle school

Can we do the same in Social Studies? Andrea has worked out a course list that would work. Andrea will write something up to be considered at the next meeting.

Ingrid will get together with other Lit educators to work on something for them.

Brant has been charged with doing something with Science.

Special ed has their Masters + Cert program.

Resignation for Spring 2014

Joe Scarano has resigned as TA for the spring semester, please offer your thanks for his service to the department as a Teaching Assistant over the years.

Search Announcements

EDCI 466 has been advertised; the search has closed and two have been chosen to interview.

EDCI 404 – Geometry for Middle School Teachers; we are just getting the ad out there.

TEACH Documentary

This is showing at 7:00 p.m. on November 14. Please encourage students, and their friends, to attend.

MOSS Excursion Report

Brant and Anne needed to be absent.

Paul briefly reported. The Dean wants this to be a signature assignment for all elementary ed preservice teachers. The new MOSS students get an opportunity to practice their teaching on our elementary ed preservice teachers.

Spring and Summer Schedule

Elementary and Ed Core should be accurate. Please double (quadruple) check.

EdTPA

Paul reported in Sally’s absence. Videos were to be scored by November 3. Do not release scores of “1” to the students!!!!

$25 shadow dollars are available for each student. This can be used for travel, peripherals, software, etc.

Assessment Course

John was not available to report.

Coed By-Laws

Are these sufficient for our use, or do we need our own?

We operate under the umbrella of the COEd by-laws, with the exception of voting and meeting involvement.

Ingrid is going to take the lead on working a draft.

Celebration

Paul shared the letter of official accreditation sent to Interim President Don Burnett.

All 6 standards were met. Only one AFI remains.

Other Business

Ingrid is working on potentially putting an EDCI 201 out in the schools.
