ASSISTANT CAMPUS ATHLETIC COORDINATOR

Primary Purpose:

The assistant campus athletic coordinator shall assist the campus athletic coordinator with coordination and supervision of the athletic programs of the campus and feeder pattern. The campus athletic coordinator in conjunction with the EMS athletic director will determine specific assignments and supervisory responsibilities assigned to the assistant athletic coordinator.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
  • Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience

  • Experience as coach or participant in some form of athletics

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. To keep the campus athletic coordinator informed of needs and problems within the athletic program.
  2. To serve as head coach of a varsity athletic team and be responsible for organization of the program throughout the high school and middle schools assigned.
  3. To make suggestions and recommendations in regards to program needs.
  4. To work with principal in scheduling training periods for all athletics to best utilize fields, courts, and gymnasiums available.
  5. To assist head coaches and review schedules for interschool athletic contests.
  6. To evaluate and make recommendations for coaches at the high school and feeder middle school as assigned by the campus athletic coordinator in conjunction with the athletic director.
  7. To attend UIL district meetings as assigned.
  8. To be responsible for knowing and carrying out all UIL policies. Meet with staff and review rules at the beginning of school.
  9. To attend all athletic contests on campus when possible. To secure working personnel for all campus contests in conjunction with the campus athletic coordinator.
  10. To be available to perform any other duties; which may be assigned by campus athletic coordinator or athletic director.
  11. Will work with the press / media in promoting schools and programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned head coaches and assistant coaches as directed by the campus athletic coordinator and the athletic director.

ATHLETIC TRAINER HEAD

General

The athletic trainer(s) shall function under the direction of the athletic coordinator and athletic director. He / She shall be available for all sports.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

To treat any injuries that may occur in any sport or athletic event sponsored by the Eagle Mountain – Saginaw ISD.

To work closely with doctors in treating athletes and keep coaches informed as to progress of athletes.

To keep records of all injuries.

To accompany (or see that a coach does) injured players to hospital or doctor when leaving practice session or game under your supervision.

To have on file a current physical examination and parent release from every athlete involved in a sport at that time.

Complete all appropriate insurance paperwork on each athlete.

Is responsible for all information required by the league office – to be correct and on time.

Is responsible to keep athletic coordinator informed of problems or needs for their specific program.

Provides direction and assistance to middle school and sub-varsity coaches to assure coordination and success in each sport. Conduct clinics and workouts with middle school coaches.

Attends as many sub-varsity games as possible in his / her program.

Cooperates with press and community organizations.

Is responsible for furnishing a list of students to the principal (with athletic coordinator’s signature and approval) for approval when athletes have to miss school.

Is responsible for seeing that all facilities are securely locked before leaving. That includes outside gates.

Attend booster club meetings as coordinated by the campus coordinator. See that the booster club works within the framework of school and UIL policy.

Be available to perform any other duties as assigned by the athletic coordinator.

Be conscientious in classroom responsibilities.
