Location:Auckland but may be required to travel nationwide

Purpose of Position:

This is anacademicposition working directly with the Quality & Projects Manager to support the teaching across the Training for Industry (TFI) faculty, liaising with Industry Trainers to translate the desired vocational training outcomes into course outlines, handbooks, and other curriculum resources to ensure TFI meets all regulatory education requirements.

The position holder will be required to:

  • Act as thecurriculum developer for new and reviewed programmes in the Training for Industry Faculty, specifically with a focus on Extractives and Scaffolding to start
  • Implement the translation of desiredlearning outcomes into Programme handbooks, course outlines, workbooks, and teaching resources such as online/videos etc, incorporating internal academic and quality assurance procedures and compliance with the institute’s quality management system (QMS) and Academic Statute.
  • Liaise with Industry Trainers to ensure all resources are implemented in the delivery of courses

Key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Assist staff to redesign and develop courses for the post-TRoQ environment whilst developing relevant guidelines and quality assurance benchmarks, with a specific focus on Extractives and Scaffolding areas.
  • Provide administrative support to programme staff through the review and development of new programmes of study processes.
  • Participate in the development, communication and implementation, and ongoing improvement of academic and quality assurance procedures within TFI to comply with internal and external requirements including:
  • TPP Academic Statute
  • TPP QMS
  • NZQA Rules under the Education Act
  • TEC rules under the Education Act

Person Specification

  • A level 5/6/7 qualification (or current enrolment in such a programme)in education (tertiary), quality management, business or business administration is desirable.
  • An understanding of the New Zealand tertiary education environment and the needs of adult learners is preferred.

Capability:

The successful applicant will have:

  • Capability in the use of Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding ofcurriculum and resources design and development, moderation and assessment.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of academic processes in non-university tertiary education in NZ.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of quality management including self-assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of the need for/commitment to rigour/correct process/quality assurance
  • Experience developing and writing courses, developing curriculum and assessment material, and working with Industry Trainers to implement these.
  • Proven ability to translate desired vocational outcomes into instructional experiences which make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing.

  • Take all practicable steps to ensure the Employee’s health, safety and welfare.
