Team Viewer Screen Sharing Instructions

Teachers and Students Connect-bringing distance learning closer for students with Low Vision

Teacher Instructions: Go to click on Download Team Viewer in the middle of the screen. Click Run.

Let load on the bottom left of your screen (about 1.5 minutes).

On the next screen, click Basic Installation and Personal Use. Accept and Finish.

There are two options with Team Viewer- Remote Control (gives someone else control of your computer) and Meeting. You want Meeting- the student can view your screen, but not manipulate it. Click on Meeting and then under Host Meeting, click Presentation.

Your Meeting Share Screen will show up on the right with a Meeting ID that begins with m plus 8 digits. This is a unique ID code for this session. Write this number down in large, clear, dark print and give to student to connect. The connection will last approximately 1.5 hours. Click the X on the white box and then you can minimize the Team Viewer window by clicking the white tab on the left of the Team Viewer window. It will slide out of sight to the right of the screen.

To Pause Sharing, click on the white tab of the Team Viewer window, hover the mouse over the image of your screen and then click Pause. Pausing is important for times when a Teacher is doing something on their computer that they do not want the student to see.

The Student with Visual Impairment can view distance visual information that is running through the Teacher’s computer: Smart Boards, Movies, or document cameras that are connected through the teacher’s computer. This is almost always possible to do with an extra cord.

The Student can ZOOM in for greater magnification and even take a SCREENSHOT to refer to later!

To encourage independence by the student, he/she can initiate the Team Viewing Session by being responsible to give a Team Viewer card to the Teacher upon entering the classroom. This is especially helpful for students who switch classes, so that the teacher is prompted and the student is demonstrating responsibility for his/her needs.

When you close out of Team Viewer for the first time, it will put an icon on your desktop. You can leave it there, or right click and pin it to your taskbar to find easily each day.

Happy Sharing!
