A former business owner and entrepreneur, Les Weil is a philanthropist and an active community volunteer who has been involved with over 100 non-profit organizations in the greater Milwaukee, WI, area concentrating his assistance in the areas of fundraising, board solicitation training, marketing and the business operations of non-profits. He has developed and implemented a number of community-wide initiatives and is known for his unique willingness, skill and ability to network throughout the community, connecting individuals, corporations and foundations for the betterment of the region. He is often called upon to provide lesser-known non-profit organizations the opportunity to present their missions to a targeted group of philanthropists.

Currently, Les serves on the Executive Committee for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s $125 Million Capital Campaign and Co-chairs the Development Committee of the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center. His involvement also includes, among many others, the Arthritis Foundation – Wisconsin Chapter, American Lung Association, Community Health Charities, First Stage Children’s Theater, Latino Community Center, Literacy Services, Leave-A-Legacy Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the United Performing Arts Fund.

Les has been recognized for his service with numerous awards including the 2005 La Causa Vision Award (Hispanic Community), 2004 United Performing Arts Fund Award for leadership in a nearly $10 million campaign and the 2003 Todd Wehr Volunteer Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is the founder of the Zink the Zebra Foundation, which creates character education programs for children based on a short story that his 11-year-old daughter Kelly wrote before her death from cancer.
