Time Warner Offers Benefit to Consumer or Not?

  1. Time Warner Cable is the focus of the article.
  2. The article discusses new technology called Look Back that Time Warner Cable is introducing. Look Back allows consumers to record their favorite programs free of charge.
  3. Look Back will first be tested in the South Carolina market before countrywide release.
  4. Look Back is set for release in October, 2007.
  5. Tone: Informative
  6. Purpose: To inform of new technology that can benefit people who want to watch programs that occur at the same time.
  7. I watch at least six hours of television a day, and I often miss my my favorite soaps because I have to go to school, so I’m excited about Look Back, which is completely free. Except, there is one catch; there is no fast forward button, which means I would have to watch all of the commercials. But, I do not think I will mind all that much because the commercials give me time to get lots of chores done, such as painting my nails and eating pop tarts. I think commericals are entertaining. My parents and teachers tell me that advertising has a negative effect on me. What do they know? It is not like I watch a commercial and then go out and buy the product being advertised. I like to wait for sales. Anyway, I am not too sure that Time Warner’s Look Back is going succeed. We already have Tivo. Plus, most people just watch their shows on YouTube or rent the DVD. I give the product two thumbs down.
