Current objectives:

Developing and disseminating our Problem Based Learning to being state of the art when it comes to educating competent and highly demanded engineers.

Continues development of teaching activities aimed at helping students how to use PBL and improve their team work skills and intercultural awareness.

Development of courses to continue the students development of more professional procedures in team work and project management on a master level, and to learn master students intercultural communication and improve their intercultural awareness.

Methods:

Action research where experiments with teaching methods, content and students reflective writing on their learning outcome, is followed by research on the outcome of the teacher/researcher.

In 2007 a research project was initiated together with Xiangyun Du (organizer) and other researchers from I20 analyzing how (fast and well) foreign students adapt to the Aalborg PBL model. Questionnaires and interviews is carried out with engineering student from different master programs during autumn 2007 and the results are to be analyzed during 2008.

A small scale personal project using reflective learning portfolios to improve students team work skills and intercultural awareness is carried out 2007-2008.

Further development of students intercultural communication and awareness are planned to be executed in the forthcoming years together with researchers from I20.

Future plans are to continue the development of the AAU PBL model in engineering educations towards a more explicit use of the "teaching" potential in students peer learning/teaching within the project groups.

PBL the Aalborg model, team building, team work/cooperation, conflict handling, learning and learning styles, project management, change management, intercultural communication and awareness.

Cooperation, learning and project management: first year students +

first sem. foreign Master students.

Professional procedures in team work in a globalized world: first semester Danish master students, new course autumn 2007

Intercultural communication and awareness, new course: second semester Master students, first time spring 2008

Problem Based Learning: new employed teachers and PhD students

I want to participate in the networks established around the UNESCO Chair in Problem Based Learning and this way establish some new research projects within this theme's objectives together with other researchers around the world.
