Class Description
Eighth Grade Math will follow the Texas Math TEKS. Throughout the year, students will cover all TEKS for Eighth grade Math.
● Chapter 1: Real Numbers
● Chapter 2: Similarity and Dilations
● Chapter 3: Proportional Relationships and Slope
● Chapter 4: Functions
● Chapter 5: Triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem
● Chapter 6: Equations and Inequalities
● Chapter 7: Connect Algebra to Geometry
● Chapter 8: Transformations and Congruence
● Chapter 9: Scatter Plots and Data Analysis
● Chapter 10: Personal Financial Literacy
Materials -Daily- Notebook paper , IPAD, and pencil. All work must be completed with a pencil. IPADS must be charged at home to work with DESMOS calculators.
A Composition book is required for notes.
Textbooks
It is the student’s responsibility to take care of their book and keep it covered. If damage or loss occurs, the student must report it to the teacher and pay for the book. Another book will not be reissued until payment has been received. Textbooks are consumables but limited in quantity.
Tutorials
Tuesday -Thursday 7:35 – 8:00
All students with a grade of 70 or below will be assigned tutorials.
Grading
60% - Daily Work
40% - Test
*Think Through Math will be assigned two lessons passed per week once IPADS are assigned.
Absentee work
It is the student’s responsibility to acquire the appropriate make up work missed. The student will have 2 days for every day absent to make-up missing assignments before the late work policy will take effect.
Late work
1 day late = grade ≤ 90%
2 days late = grade ≤ 80%
3 to 7 days late = grade ≤ 70
Over 7 days = 0
Corrected Work
I do allow corrections on work that is below a 70 on daily work. Test corrections will vary but must be completed at tutorials or in class. All corrections must be within one week of receiving the grade and prior to the beginning of week 6 of the six weeks and

Consequences
If a student chooses to misbehave and impedes learning, then:
- 1st: Verbal warning / Student Conference
- 2nd : Lunch Detention
- 3rd : Parent/Guardian Conference
- 4th : Office Referral
*Some misbehavior may result in immediate office involvement without time to call home first.
