TDDI Program - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What projects are eligible?

Projects should fall into either the Environmental, Built, Transport and Enabling categories, as outlined in the Application Guidelines.

In other jurisdictions, projects have included wilderness trails, Wi-Fi infrastructure, industry capability, destination strategic planning, and funding for individual private operators.

  1. Do we need to match the funding?

Yes, you are required to match the funding.

A criterion of the program is that TDDI funding must be matched dollar-for-dollar by the applicant.

In-kind support and Commonwealth Government funding is not considered matching funding.

  1. My project does not fall within $250,000 - $750,000 as outlined in the Application Guidelines, is it still eligible?

Projects seeking less than $250,000 or more than $750,000 will be considered on a case by case basis.

Projects must still fall into one of the four categories (stated above) and applicants must meet the criteria as outlined in the Application Guidelines.

If accepted, projects will be considered on their merit as a part of the competitive assessment process.

  1. How will applications be accepted?

Applications should be submitted online through the Business Victoria website.

Existing users can log in their existing Business Victoria account. New users will need to create an account.

  1. Can I submit a hard copy application?

Applicants may be able to submit a hard copy application, however, this will only be considered on an as needs basis.

Applicants can discuss this option with the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources(DEDJTR) by contacting (03) 9653 9772.

  1. How will projects be assessed?

As a pre-requisite, projects will be assessed on their readiness, demonstrated need and availability of co-funding.

The relative merit of projects will be assessed against capacity to deliver the project, alignment with regional, state and national priorities, and return on investment.

An Assessment Panel will assess and rank all eligible applications against the criteria, and recommend the final projects for funding to the Minister or his delegates for endorsement.

  1. Are other jurisdictions administering their funding like this?

Some jurisdictions, such as the Northern Territory, have administered their funding through a competitive process similar to Victoria. Other jurisdictions have identified projects internally.

Victoria has offered a competitive process to engage with industry and encourage private investment in tourism infrastructure.

  1. How many projects will be funded?

The number of successful projects is conditional on the amount of funding available, the projects submitted for consideration, and if they meet the program requirements.
