Proposal

The following proposal was made to facilitate the inclusion of Ulster members to the Federation.

  • That in the four Nations Ulster lifters must compete as Northern Ireland, as in the recent Four Nations reported in the ‘International Powerlifter’, Ulster lifters were reported as Ireland. Only IPF members can represent Ireland. This report caused embarrassment to the Irish Powerlifting Federation.
  • Ulster lifters that have competed for Britain in the past or future will not be allowed membership or compete in IPF competitions
  • Ulster lifters wishing to be in the IPF can also be BAWLA members and compete in the British championships.
  • All IPF competitions will be held in the south under the Irish Sports Council.
  • If we were to resume Interprovincial Championships they could take place in Northern Ireland. However officers will be busy with Special Olympics until 2003.
  • Ulster membership cannot hold office in the Executive committee of the IPF as they compete Internationally as a separate unit ie Northern Ireland in Four Nations championships.
  • The IPF officers are President, Sec, Treasurer, Committee, Munster rep, Leinster rep, Connaught rep. Ulster rep. Would be welcome on the committee.
