Job Purpose
  • Develop, oversee and provide financial direction and supervision for the organisation.
  • Fully participate in the strategic planning and budget preparation relating to the financial direction of the organisation to ensure that all financial targets are met and that CPK complies with financial and statutory regulations.
  • Deliver key day to day operational financial activity as required.

Main Accountabilities

  • You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of Culture Perth and Kinross - using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.
  • You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money at all times while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all Culture Perth and Kinross employees.
  • You will be expected to work across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.
  • To identify and implement learning and development needs for both yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.
  • You will be expected to comply with corporate standards, and use corporate systems, processes and procedures – and undertake any necessary training as directed.

In addition, your duties will include:

•Maintain the integrity and efficiency of the charity’s financial accounting processes and system, ensuring effective internal controls are in place.

•Ensure the preparation of monthly management and charity accounts and all and any financial statements/statutory accounts and statistical returns including VAT returns accurately and on time, providing a clear audit trail.

•Review the reconciliation of fundraising income and support the development of the fundraising system and improvements in processes.

•Manage key relationships with the organisation’s appointed banks, auditors, outsourced partners, suppliers etc.

•Manage procurement and commissioning processes as required.

•Provide regular financial reports for the SMT, CEO & Board of Trustees.

•Assist auditors with their requirements through planned and unplanned audit assignments.

•Support teams to respond to final audit reports and, where appropriate, ensure actions are completed.

•Managing CPK cash flow and prepare budgets as required.

•Responsible for writing and presenting CPK Financial Regulations to Chief Exec/Board for approval.

•Ensuring compliance with CPK Financial Regulations.

•To ensure that all daily cashing up and banking processes are carried out to the highest standards.

•To monitor and manage discrepancies and take appropriate action where necessary.

•Be confident in the use of Microsoft suite; the major systems you will use to provide and manipulate information is the Excel spreadsheet package.

•Deal with and understand complex information and develop management information systems to support new ways of working.

•Provide information and reports to support Freedom of Information enquiries as required.

•To be responsible for own health and safety and that of others in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1975.

•Ensure compliance with any instruction relating to Health and Safety.

•Contribute to service planning and improvements and lead on initiatives as directed by the CEO.

Knowledge & Experience
To be suitable for the role you need to be a commercially aware, qualified (ACCA, ACMA or ACA) accountant. Proven experience of influencing and challenging senior staff is essential as are excellent technical accounting skills.
It is desirable that you demonstrate an interest in culture, heritage or the arts
Exposure to the charity sector is highly desirable.
Exposure to public sector accounting practices desirable.
Experience of Integra systems desirable.
