The Course

Mobility is one key condition for the social and economic development of modern societies all over the world. It is recently strongly affected by connectivity between various devices which forms a major trend in today’s technology. Modern information and communication technologies enable connected and automated mobility building intelligent transportation networks which are regarded as an integral component to meet future passenger transportation demands in a safe and sustainable way.

The Mobility Summer School is an ideal platform to discuss developments in connectivity on a high academic level, bringing together master and PhD students from the IDEA League universities in Delft, Zürich, Aachen and Chalmers as well as ASPIRE League universities.

Academic and industrial experts will give lectures on challenges towards future mobility, upcoming solutions and related trends. Based on the provided input, Summer School attendees will elaborate innovative applications for connected and automated mobility and possible new business models within interdisciplinary group work.

An outstanding event during the Mobility Summer School will be the visit of the world´s largest motor show IAA (International motor show) in Frankfurt where the students will have the opportunity to gather firsthand information on “Connectivity and Automated Mobility” by guided tours and individual free time.

Beyond the professional approach, IDEA League Summer Schools also provide the possibility to connect with excellent students from various different countries becoming part of an enriching international knowledge exchange.

Venue

The course will be run at CityCampus of RWTH Aachen University. This is easily accessible by bus from main train station or train station “Aachen West”. Next airports are Maastricht Aachen, CologneBonn or Duesseldorf. Students will receive detailed travel information after successful registration. The travel expenses to and from Aachen have to be covered by the participants. All accommodation, meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the course.

Students will be sent full joining instructions closer to the date of the summer school.

Please note that all students are required to attend the whole course.

Cancellation Charges

The cancellation charge for this course will be 150 Euro. Students must give a minimum of two weeks notice of their cancellation to avoid cancellation charges.(This charge goes towards recovering the cost of accommodation, etc). The cancellation charge will be waived if the Graduate Schools and the International Office are able to find a student who can attend in the place of the cancelling student. The fee will also be waived on the production of a valid medical certificate.
