Students are required by CTC to “shadow” any of the direct enrollment programs before they can be considered for admission. By shadowing, we mean that the student leaves GTJHS and goes to the Career & Tech Center to spend the class time for that particular program observing the students and the class activities for one class period. This helps the students to determine if the program is truly one in which they are interested.
Transportation to and from GTJHS and CTC is provided by FCPS buses.
Students are REQUIRED to turn in a signed parent permission form stating that the student is allowed to leave GTJHS and travel by bus to CTC. If the permission slip is not completed and returned to the GTJHS Counseling Office, the student will NOT be allowed to leave GTJHS property to shadow the CTC program.
On the day that you shadow, you will be given a packet with an application enclosed. If you want to apply for the program you shadowed you must complete this application and return it to Ms. Wright in the Counseling Office at GTJHS as soon as possible.
We would like to schedule a date for shadowing as long as he/she is allowed to miss your class.
Students are also required to inform their teachers prior to their shadow date.
