INDICATIONS: Parathyroid pathology
PATIENT PREP: NPO for solid foods, water only, for 4 hours prior to scan
IV CONTRAST: With:80mL Isovue 370 @ 3.0 mL/second
WithOut:None
ORAL CONTRAST: None
POSITIONING: Head First Supine, Arms by sides
TOPOGRAMS: AP. Angle of mandible to carina. 25 mA, 110 kV.
Lateral. Angle of mandible to carina. 25 mA, 110 kV
SCAN TYPE: Spiral/Helical. If necessary: Sequential Axials angled behind dental work.
NOTES: Adjust delay on Venous scan to be performed at 70 seconds.
ALARA – Keep radiation dose As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
