PART 1: 14:30 - 15:15 National standards in Palliative Medicine – Dr. David Henderson, Moderator (President Elect, CSPCP)

  1. Discussion re: 2016 - it is time to standardize national credentials for PC Consultants as having at a minimum CAC (PC) or FRCP(PM) & provincial role in making this happen – Dr. David Henderson – 15min

PART 2: 15:30- 17:30Hastened Death -Dr. Monica Branigan, Moderator (Chair, Physician Hastened Death Working Group, CSPCP)

Additional resources will posted on CSPCP website and attendees will be invited to review them ahead of the session. This may include all relevant College policies related to hastened death, new updates on legislation or provincial policy if available, etc.

Session: How to balance physician conscience and patient access

  1. Panel presentation – 30 min

CMA –Dr. Cindy Forbes, CMA President

CMPA- Dr. Gord Wallace, Managing Director, Safe Medical Care

  1. World Café format moderated table discussion – 45 min
  • Moderated tables to discuss how individual groups are coping
  • Moderators to include members of HD Working Group and Board and be responsible to synthesize discussion
  • Discussion will be focused by questions- to be determined
  1. Short feedback to large group – 30 min
  • Post results for people to see and read later
  1. Large group discussion: Next steps and advocacy – 15 min
  • How do we advocate for a National Palliative Care Secretariat at the Federal level
  • How do we advocate for a separate, parallel access system

Post-session

Provide feedback to attendees- and possible all members- results of small table discussions
