Cryptid Hunters Enrichment Project

Goal: There has been a recent effort by Build Africa to attract more people to the Republic of Congo and Lake Tele’ in an effort to gain popularity and business to the Congo. In conjunction with Build Africa, the travel agency Travelocity has hired you and your marketing team to create a presentation to persuade and inform tourists to come visit Africa and to persuade businesses to invest into Lake Tele’.

Role: You and your team are Kennesaw State University students hired as interns to be a part of the Travelocity Marketing Team/Travel Agents:

  • Finance Manager – person in charge of how much it will cost,
  • Trip Manager – person in charge of the itinerary and how to get from place to place
  • Business Marketing Manager – What will attract businesses to Lake Tele’
  • Tourist Marketing Manager – what do consumers want on a trip (this person is key for driving this plan together).

Collaboration will be key to making a successful presentation.

Audience: Your audience is a panel (from Travelocity and Build Africa) and tourists and business capitalists

Situation: You and your team have been hired by Build Africa and Travelocity to create a presentation/commercial to persuade tourists and business investors to come to the Republic of Congo and Lake Tele’ for a seven day trip in the summer of 2016. This trip should include other African countries but it must include Lake Tele and the Republic of Congo (for 1-2 days). Initially, teams will present in front of a panel group; the best presentation will all earn a full time position, benefits, and salary. The winning group’s presentation will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center for various events and conferences (business capitalists such as Six Flags, Six Flags White Water, Disney, Sea World, Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, *Jurassic World, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt, Days Inn, La Quinta Inn, Chick-Fil-A, Zaxby’s, Starbucks, Papa John’s, Chili’s, and Publix. ) during the week of May 2nd-6th.

Product: You and your team will create a PowerPoint presentation or Prezi to present your teams plan on why people should come to the Congo, what makes it valuable for business, and what is attractive in the surrounding countries to make people come to Lake Tele and The Congo.

Standards for Success:

Clear Understanding of how a group of 3-5 people will travel to and from Africa in a 7 day span in a detailed format

  • What are people going to do while in Africa (remember 1-2 days must visit the Congo/Lake Tele’)?
  • When and where are they going while in Africa?
  • Detailed Itinerary
  • Aligns with marketing research and business plans.

Clear Understanding of how much the entire trip will cost in a detailed format

  • Ledger of how much everything will cost and totals.
  • Collaboration with trip manager.

Clear Understanding of how, what, and why businesses would thrive if they invested into places such as Lake Tele’

  • What would make it attractive for businesses (business capitalists such as Six Flags, Disney, Sea World, Zoo Atlanta, and Jurassic World) ?
  • What pitches could be made to the panel to persuade them to put their services
  • What does your market research say about potential tourists?
