Qualifying teams for finals:

10+ teams = qualify 3 teams

8 teams = qualify 2 teams

6 teams = qualify 1 team

If less than 6 teams should hi-point count for the people that showed up. Brian made a motion that if it is a sanctioned roping all points count for the high-point year end. Steve Mason seconded. Majority rules.

Moose Jaw Roping:no paperwork submitted yet. Need results so that it can be posted on the website.

New Business:

-2010 Finals: Art Cox would like to re-invite the idea of paid judges or people that are not competing. It is suggested that if a member knows of four individuals that would be interested in judging for our finals bring it to the attention of the directors for further discussion. Tony made a motion that we leave the judging for the finals as is -ropers’ judge themselves. Brent seconded. All in favor motion carried.

The 2010 finals location: Taber, AB on September 25 and 26th, 2010.

Clayton made a motion that we have the General Meeting at the finals in Taber immediately following the awards. Byron seconds, all in favor motion carried. One opposed.

Byron was asked if the Novice could be run all in one day. It was discussed and a decision was made to have the Novice pick on Saturday and draw on Sunday.

Clayton brings to the attention of Gating Partners for the finals; if a person qualifies on a certain amount of teams but only ropes with a few of them. Brent made a motion that ropers that are two people short on their team should be given priority on the draw-in to make up teams for the finals only if you are on four teams or less. Seconded by Gail, all in favor motion carried.

Kelsey Alford suggests that if a novice is bumped into the open in the middle of the year, they should be allowed to rope in the novice for the remainder of the year. Director’s discretion.

If used for a raffle; Steve will talk to Glen and Caledon to see if they would mind using the saddle for a raffle. Administration fees for the saddle raffle (includes printing of tickets; licensing fees etc.) approximately $1,000.00.

Rule change:

Art suggested that the open roper cannot head until the 1 minute warning.

Discussion held that if in the Novice; can the open roper get credit for throwing a front foot shot. As is the open roper gets 4 points.

Art made a motion that if in the Novice a roper wants to do the ground work a 4th man can be off of his horse and be near to assist when safety becomes a concern, the forth man can tail and hold the cow. The 4th man will not be able to work the ropes. Judges discretion +/- points. Seconded by Steve Mason; all in favor motion carried.
