JOB TITLE: RESEARCH COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates and administers research associated activities conducted through GJEI. Assists in project planning and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. Recruits and coordinates research subjects, as appropriate, and serves as principle administrative liaison for the project. Oversees and coordinates the provision of administrative and staff services to director the investigators; develops and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Plans and coordinates GJEI advisory board and steering committee meetings.

Plans and coordinates the initiation of research study protocol, and the establishment of operating policies and procedures.

Promotes research capacity building among community-based organization and youth-serving groups.

Plans, implements, and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection an analysis of research data.

Recruits, instructs, and coordinates research subjects and/ or volunteers, as appropriate to specific study objectives and work scope.

Ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff and as the principle operational liaison for other research organizations, funding agencies and regulating bodies.

Coordinates the day-to-day activities of any technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out the research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.

Plans and coordinates the staffing of research studies, to include the recruitment and administration of research support staff, as appropriate to the activity.

Supervises and coordinates the provision of support services to investigators and researchers.

Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.

Prepares research ethics board applications.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Master’s Degree in social sciences or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two years clinical research experience.

Minimum two-four years’ experience in program coordination, volunteer management in health related, youth support or frontline client service.

Knowledge of inequity issues that impact girls and young women of color.

Demonstrated an understanding of the complex issues that impact girls living in underserved, low socioeconomic areas.

Familiarity with community research-based principles.

PA Act 33 (Child Abuse) / Act 34 (Criminal History) / Federal Criminal History Record (FBI Fingerprint)

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of inequity issues that impact woman and girls.

Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of issues relating girls living in underserved, low socioeconomic area.

Excellent facilitation skills.

Exceptional program coordination and volunteer management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Fluency in English.

Ability to speak another language is an asset.

Strong awareness of trauma-informed principles and practices.

Project Management capabilities.

Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with data storage and analysis systems such as SPSS is an asset.

Familiarity with current social media platforms.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Executive Director

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

1)Indoors in busy office, working in close proximity to co-workers; 2) Frequently required to work at a fast pace; 3) Requires considerable concentration and creativity; 4) Some weekend and evening work required; 5) Some travel required (conferences)
