Cross Country Alaska (CCAK) is looking for qualified individuals to fill positions on the coaching staffs for:

• 2018 Junior National Championships, March 3-10 in Soldier Hollow, Utah
• 2018 Arctic Winter Games, March 18-24 in South Slave/Hay River of the Northwest Territories, Canada

*2018 Inner Mountain Division Youth Championships, February 23-25 in Jackson, Wyoming

*Fielding a team and coaching staff for this event will depend on coach availability, parent involvement availability, and the potential of fielding a team beyond the U14 skiers who attend AWG. This will be analyzed throughout the pre-season and the possibility of fielding a team will be decided by December 15, 2017. If this is possibly of interest to you, please indicate this within the cover letter of your application. CCAK will use this information to determine the feasibility of submitting a U14 team for this event. If you are interested in coaching this team, the deadline to submit an application is November 1.

CCAK will first fill the positions of Arctic Winter Games Head Coach. CCAK will then review the applications for the Junior Nationals Team Trip Leader, Junior National Team Head Coach.

Applications for the position of Arctic Winter Games Head Coach will be accepted via email only through midnight September 30. This position will be nominated by the Coach Selection Subcommittee for approval by the Cross Country Competition Committee at the October 17, 2017 meeting.

Applications for the positions of Trip Leader and Head Coach for the Junior Nationals Team and Western Regional Championships will be accepted via email only through midnight October 15. These positions will be nominated by the Coach Selection Subcommittee for approval by the Cross Country Competition Committee and will be announced by November 30.

Applications for the coaching staff positions for Junior Nationals, Arctic Winter Games, and Inner Mountain Division Youth Championships will be accepted via email only through midnight November 1. The coaching staff positions will be nominated by the Coach Selection Subcommittee for approval by the Cross Country Competition Committee and will be announced by November 30.

Applications must be submitted on the CCAK coach application form, and should include a brief cover letter (e-mail cover letter is sufficient) indicating the individual’s interest in coaching Team Alaska. Please be sure to specify your interest as a Junior Nationals coach, an Arctic Winter Games coach or an Inner Mountain Division Youth Championships coach. Indicate preference of the team you’re interested in coaching, and if you are interested in coaching more than one of these teams.

Applications should be submitted electronically, in either PDF or *.doc format. Submissions should be e-mailed to . Candidates will be evaluated by the Coach Selection Subcommittee based upon their experience, knowledge, skill, and ability to work as a part of a team.

Once selected all coaches must purchase a USSA Coaching license, if they do not already possess one, and be subject to the background check that is part of procurement of that license. Travel with the team both to and from the races is required. Exceptions may be made, but need to be confirmed with the head coach, trip leader and CCAK Administrator by December 15, 2017.

The tentative travel dates are as follows:

• Junior Nationals – redeye Friday, March 2/ returnthe evening of March 11.
• Arc tic Winter Games – To Be Determined
• Inner Mountain Division Youth Championships likely depart on Thursday, February 22 and return on Saturday, February 25.

The Cross Country Alaska Competition Committee has devised this application form in an effort to standardize the application process for coaching positions on CCAKorganized teams to the Junior Olympics, Arctic Winter Games and other trips organized under the auspices of CCAK. When the pertinent information is in the same format on everyone’s application, it is much easier for the Coach Selection Committee to evaluate each application and to compare merits between one applicant and another.

Please fill out the application completely, and save a copy on your computer. That way, in future year(s), you can re-open the same file and just add a row for the year(s) since you last submitted an application. Enter as much information in any of the boxes in the tables below, and the boxes will expand to accept what you type. PLEASE DO NOT re-format the form in any way.

In order to be a member of a coaching staff at Junior Olympics, USSA requires that an individual hold a current USSA Coaching License. Beginning with the 2013 Junior Nationals, USSA will require that coaching staff members be certified as USSA Level 100 coaches. Cross Country Alaska requires that members of the Arctic Winter Games coaching staff hold a current USSA Coaching License. Place an “X” in the boxes to signify “yes”, and provide your USSA number.
