Welcome

Ms. Hoessler called the meeting to order.

The SAC committee was introduced.

The meeting was recorded by Ms. Buete. It will be posted on the Crookshank Facebook account so that more parents are able to access the meetings.

Summary of previous SAC minutes

Ms. Rodgers made a motion that we accept the minutes, Ms. Haynes seconded. They were approved.

Ms. Hoessler made a motion that we add the Principal’s report to the agenda. Ms. Lloyd seconded. It was added.

Treasurer’s Report

Ms. Beute- no updates

Please make sure there is an update in October.

Principal’s Report

Mr. Jackson

Acceptance of new motions: 2 new members were voted on (Angela Haynes-Harris and Jessica Kasper). Mr. Bechtold made a motion that we accept them, they were approved.

Bylaws: the bylaws were updated last year. It was suggested that they be posted and updated online. There will also be a notebook to house a paper copy of the monthly minutes. Updated notes: update the portion of the bylaws that state that the minutes are posted in the hall to: posted in the hall a message that the minutes are in the office. We will also be more diligent at posting the agenda on the website 3 days before. At the bottom of the bylaws the date it was updated will be posted. Notice of meeting will be posted on the website 3 days prior to the meeting.

Next meeting we will review the corrections and then make a motion to accept the revisions.

We have hired all teachers and para professionals needed for the year.

The School Improvement plan has been presented and accepted. It was presented this morning at St. Augustine High School. There is only 12 minutes to present. Mr. Jackson gave accolades to the AP’s, the SAC chair and co-chair and the ILC. He also expressed his admiration for the faculty and their dedication. He presented the celebrations in academics last year and also the decrease in suspensions. He also presented the disparities and the next steps to help close the gaps. Some of the next steps include focusing in the classrooms on collaborations and student inquiry; an increase in parent communication and outreach; working on daily social skills through lessons and morning meetings. Mr. Jackson also included in the report the unique and special programs that are present on campus.

Joanne Marziani

Ms. Marziani presented the current Learning compact. It was updated last year.

The Summer Reading Olympics awards will be presented tomorrow, Sept. 22.

The annual open house/ curriculum nights will be 9/26 will be 3-5. Oct. 3 will be Pk- 2.

Celebrations, questions, concerns, closing

April Black, a parent asked a few questions. The first was a concern about the lack of AR. Administration shared the shift away from AR and other incentives that will be used inside the classroom. She also was concerned about the new PE and concerned about the difference between the classroom PE and classroom recess. Also she was concerned about the assigned seating at lunch.

The next meeting is October 19th.

Ms. Hoessler made a motion to adjourn. Ms. Rodgers seconded. The meeting was closed.
