Invitation for Regatta / Fun day 22 JULY 17

NOTICE OF EVENT

This event is being organised by Cromarty Community Rowing Club and is intended to be a fun/enjoyable day for all participating and spectating.

St Ayles Skiff racing is held under the rules of the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association.

In terms of these rules all craft must be covered by a suitable third party insurance and it is the responsibly of participants to ensure that they are covered.

Skiffs can be launched in Cromarty from the beach, ferry slip or harbour slip .There are two slips on the west side of harbour which also lead down to the beach.

Parking for Skiffs is on the Links which can be entered from the Fishertown side or from the harbour passing the ferry slip on your left.

The course is 1k in straight line (could have a turn if weather is good). Course to be decided on the day. We can row east or west of harbour depending on wind direction. Start procedure will be explained at Cox’s briefing

Please ensure you read this document and ensure that your Skiff is properly prepared with Anchor ,Life Jackets ,VHF radio(channel to be decided at Cox’s briefing),Mooring rope 6’ min.

SCHEDULE

Please ensure that you arrive in good time and that your Skiff is in the water before the Cox’s briefing .If any club wants to come on Friday please let us know so we can arrange access to Links for parking,.

Umpiring, Time keeping and Start Procedure

CCRC will provide an umpire who will be onboard one of the safety boats at the Start line. Any offers from others to umpire will be warmly welcomed.

Time keepers will be positioned at finish line and individual times will be posted and verified.

The start line for races will be marked with two buoys (colour ??). The start is non tethered.

A 5 Minute warning will be sounded by the umpire over VHF radio and teams are expected to be in place shortly after. When umpire is satisfied with teams positions a 1 minute warning will be given over VHF and the race will start with a long marked single blast + call over VHF.

ANY boat deemed past the start line prior to race starting(warning will be given by starter to offending Skiff )and it will incur a time penalty.

Change Over

Each team will have a designated area to launch and land between races.
