CRITIQUE OF THE FEED EXTRUSION TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR
ON JULY 20, 2006 AT HYDERABAD, INDIA
There were 30 participants who attended workshop 12 responded for critique sheets.
GENERAL EVALUATION
a) Which of the topics were most effective? - Almost all the topics were effective. Applications of Extrusion Technology for Poultry Feed, Extrusion Hardware, Role of Preconditioning, Drying Theory, Aquatic Feed Extrusion were the most effective topics.
b) Which were the least effective topics? Why? —Though all the topics were appreciated by all participants but some of the topics like Role of Flavours, Extrusion Technology for Petfood, Application of Extrusion Technology for Aquafeeds, Drying Theory were not very much effective.
c) What topics would you like to have added to the future seminars?
Different Drying methods & equipments in composition with extrusion, Technologies in connection with cheese production by using veg. Food, Biodegradable plastic-technology, Economics of installation of Extruder of minimum capacity and plant layout, Effect of Extrusion on nutrients for foods used for human consumption, Application of extrusion technology to our traditional legumes, etc.

a) What is your overall rating of this program?
To this question 3 participant felt that the program was Excellent; 5 participants felt that the program was very good; 4 participants felt that the program was good.
b) How do you rate the materials presented?
2 participants felt that the materials presented were good; 9 participants felt that the materials were very good; 1 participant felt that the program was excellent.
c) How would you rate this programs speaker?
While 4 participants felt that the speaker was good; 8 felt that the speaker was very good.
d) How would you rate the facilities for this program?
While 8 participants felt that the facilities were good; 2 felt that they were very good; 2 participants thought that the facilities were excellent.
COURSE CONTENT—
a) How much interest did you have in the program?
On the higher side 10 participants felt that they were interested in the program.
How much value did you receive from this program?
All the participants were on the higher side.
c) Would you recommend this program to others interested in this subject?
To this question all participants said Yes.
When asked why – the general feeling was that this program was very useful and informative for starters.
d) Did this program strike the right balance between theory and practical application? To this question 8 participants felt that the program was properly balanced; 2 felt it was too theoretical whereas 2 participant felt that the program was much too theoretical.
Would you comment on the program in general?
The comments were:
. The schedule was very tight.
. There should be more practicals.
. Need Technical Demo on technologies.
. There should be only six topics a day and atleast 15-20 minutes given for discussion for each presentation.
. Bring out a complete proceeding and circulate among the participants.
. Coating equipment for extruded products.
. Requires more time – not to be completed in one day.

How would you rate the effectiveness of each of this program’s speakers?
Dr. Sajid Alavi Topic: Introduction to Extrusion Technology and its history
Organization – All the participants rated the organization as high.
Presentation skills - 11 participants rated Dr. Sajid’s presentation skills as high.
Quality of handout material/ visual aids - 10 participants felt that the handouts/visual aids were good.
Responsiveness to participants – All the participants felt that he was responsive towards the participants.
Knowledge of subject – All the participants who had filled the critique sheets felt that Dr. Sajid’s knowledge of the subject was very good.
Quality of sessions - 11 gave a high grade to Dr. Sajid’s sessions.
Topic – Extrusion Hardware
All the participants graded Dr. Sajid’s session as high.
Topic – Role of Preconditioning
All the participants graded him highly.
Topic – Extrusion Application in Animal Feed
Everybody has praised his presentation.
Topic – Drying Theory
All the participants gave him high grade.
Dr. Vijay Anand Topic: Application of Extrusion Technology for Aqua Feeds
Organization - 10 participants rated the organization as high.
Presentation skills – All the participants rated Dr. Anand’s’s presentation skills as high.
Quality of handout material/ visual aids - All participants felt that the handouts/visual aids were good.
Responsiveness to participants - 11 felt that he was responsive towards the participants.
Knowledge of subject – All the participants felt that Dr. Anand’s knowledge of the subject was very good.
Quality of sessions - 10 gave a high grade to Dr. Itapu’s sessions.
Topic – Economics and Advantages of Extruded Feed Products
10 participants gave him a high of 4-5 and one has given him 3.
