  • *Nominated events must have a minimum of 16 nations competing and finalists must have won at least two bouts in both events. Selected events must be identified in the high performance competition plan and agreed by Sport Ireland.
**Payment schedule of Podium funding will depend on qualification for Rio (i.e. €40K in 2016 if boxer qualifies for Rio; €20K guaranteed for both 2015 & 2016 if the boxer does not qualify for Rio).

  • In order for swimmers to receive funding under this Scheme in 2016, the performance criteria must be achieved at FINA recognised events between 1st January 2015 and 31st December 2015
  • Prior to the commencement of the 2016 Carding Scheme, swimmers will be required to submit a budget for the year detailing the intended use of their award amount. This must be pre-approved by the National Performance Director.
  • The provision of Carding money is to support the training and competition programme costs for each individual athlete. Under continuous assessment by the National Performance Director; it may also be used to support the National Programme, for which the Carded Athlete is associated with.
  • The “Olympic FINA ‘A’ standard+ 1%” refers to the Rio 2016 Olympic FINA ‘A’ Standard.
