Description of Position / OYT North’s Career Development Programme is structured over two years to bring together the necessary skills, experience and qualifications for participants to embark on a career in the maritime industry.
Previous graduates have moved into successful careers within Sail Training and a range of other maritime organisations or have used their experience as an alternative means of entry to college or university.
This is a very practical programme run on small commercial vessels – both sail and power - in multiple sailing areas. On and off the job training is provided leading to RYA Qualifications and the development of practical skills in sailing, youthwork and vessel maintenance.
Participation is on a voluntary basis with food and accommodation provided while on-board and during winter refits. The financial equivalent value is estimated at £8k along with less tangible benefits such as job readiness, good experience, employment references, and the opportunity to have a good time and make new friends.
OYT North has operated as an independent educational charity for 16 years and works with young people from all backgrounds offering them the opportunity for personal development through Adventure under Sail.
The successful applicant will require a Disclosure and Barring Certificate.
